Alright folks, time for another update;
We are trying our hand at flower farming as well. We chose tulips in Particular. The original plan was to setup and provide a "U-Cut" your own space for people to come and cut their own flowers. We are still going to offer that but we are going to advertise to sell arrangments and deliver as well. This is our first attempt so we will see what happens come spring. We are excited to learn from the results (good or bad) and hopedully expand our farming area in the future.

-The large patch of bulbs are 1000 rainbow mixed triumph tulips.
-The 2, more slim rows are our "night in paris" combination of purples and white triumph.
-There is a smaller patch of our "bumblebee duo" combination of yellow and deep red/purple triumphs. Not pictured

A total of 1270 bulbs planted this past weekend.

We have roughly 200 more bulbs to plant consisting of our "buttered popcorn" duo which is yellow and whites. And our random select colors of peach and a hybrid mix.

Keep us in mind this spring for your Tulip arrangments!!

And as always appreciated, feel free to share our posts to help us gain more of a following

Greetings. It Has been a while since anybody has posted anything. Our family is learning and growing as we go and right now there really isnt enough to post alot. Hopefully in the future we can put some videos together just to help keep the page interesting for folks who care to follow-

Update;

We planted things wayyyy too late this year. This crop will not have much to harvest. Our motovation levels were low to start the spring.

Here is how our green beans have fared. (See pics)

The u-shape area is strictly green beans. Each side box has bush beans while the back of the box has string beans. Hopefully by next year, the plan is to have that u-shaped area framed out like a house and chicken wire walls and roof so we can have a "green bean house" to walk into. We have experimented with cooking them amd enjoy the process. Each planters box is filled with several layers of leaves and yard rakings. The bottom was layered with several large sticks and logs to help feed the box nutrients. We didnt do much for fertilization or pest control and the beans have flourished!! Next year we plan on using a manure compost when planting to hopefully have a longer harvest with larger veggies as well!

We harvest a handful size such as the example pictured every 2-3 days.

We plan on expanding more area somewhere else in the yard to grow even more as well.

We also intend to have a letterkenny style stand somewhere on our front property to provide vegetables and seeds for the community as well.

We will space out updates as we remember and hopefully to not overwhelm your feeds.

Update #3

We have built 2 more raised beds. We are %99.99 sure 1 bix will be for green bell peppers and the other will be for red bell peppers. The long box should hold a min. Of 10 plants and the shorter box should hold a min. Of 6 plants. That mulch for the walkway was saved from Ryan finding an excuse to play with his chainsaw.

The boxes were filled with lawn bag material that was saved from last year. Sticks, leaves, pine needles, and maple branches from a fallen tree. Plus, we used a lot of the soil that was removed during original garden construction.

The rest of that open area between the last raised bed and garden wall ( not where the corn will go ) will be for cucumbers. Might incorporate a small box in there as well for something.

Update #2

We removed the side wall from our original layout in the area where we grew our corn last season. ( Those boards are what was used to build the tomatoe raised bed ) you used to be able to walk around the perimeter of the garden. We extended that area to the fence which allows us easily another 2 rows of corn but the man of the house says he's going to try and get 3 new rows, which would double us up from last year. Each row should get between 20-25 plants!! 🤙🤙

Our family eats a ton of Corn on the cob. Amanda eats 2-3 for a snack easily multiple times a week. Ryan and Christian love corn with most of their meals.

We appreciate all "likes" and "shares".

We haven't posted in a while so it's time for a few updates.

Update #1

Little man and dad built momma a new raised tomatoe bed. We are building raised beds for more organization and less opportunity for the dogs to trample. We plan on holding atleast 6 tomatoe plants in that bed. Deciding which kind but we are leaning towards all beefsteak tomatoes. Our family eats a lot of BLTs, burgers, and sandwiches. Plus momma likes to eat tomatoes in slices with salt and pepper 🙂

We appreciate all "likes" and "shares"
