Decadent Dark Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter
8 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), chopped
1¼ cups granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and chopped dark chocolate together, stirring frequently until smooth and combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.
Step 4
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
Step 5
In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 6
If desired, fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey experience.
Step 7
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Step 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Step 9
Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
