Receiving this note and these beautiful hides reminded me how important it is to work with people who will honor our animals in the same way we honor them. not only did a beautiful job, their kindness also shown through in how they cared for our lamb skins in a way that truly honored them. ❤️

Morning move for our laying hens and they sure are loving some new fresh pasture.

This is the first time our hens have been so far away from our house and I can’t hear the rooster crow in the morning and the hens singing their “I laid an egg song.” It’s strange but lately this has meant I wake with a bit of panic that I try to quiet as I make my tea and as I walk up the big hill to see them- once I hear their sounds I start to relax a bit and just enjoy the morning with them.

One of the many things that I treasure about this home is the many peonies that the Lovejoy family planted here. They are so prolific and so beautiful and bring so much joy!

The farm store is open today until 5 so come grab these blooms while they last!

The berries are starting to ripen 🍓🍓🍓

Last night Layla was “helping” w**d but really she was just trying to find the first ripe berries of the season.

We can’t wait for our first strawberries to ripen- we will post special dates and times for PYO strawberries as we get closer. 🍓🍓🍓

Right now we are just dealing with our partially successful cover crop experiment- note to self terminate the buckwheat earlier so you don’t have to w**d buckwheat the next year 🤦‍♀️

These two woke up early so they could help me with chores this morning because Derek is out of town for work and it just made this morning so beautiful. Hard work makes us cooperate and being around animals helps us slow down and watch and listen. There are so many days that they say that they don’t like living on a farm but deep down I think this place is teaching them so much just as it is teaching me.

The pigs have arrived. We’re so happy to welcome our pigs to the farm. They’ll be moving around the farm all season and are already settling in munching on roots and leaves.

I’ve been feeling very behind with everything this spring and honestly was not looking forward to adding more responsibility to the day-to-day but when these piglets arrived I couldn’t help but feel so excited and grateful for them. They add a level of curiosity at the farm that is so lovely and they also are just really happy animals which I appreciate a lot. While we settling into the busiest part of spring I’m just hoping they fence train quickly so we aren’t chasing them around the farm!

There’s really nothing better than going to the post office and picking up three boxes of baby chicks. They’re so cute and have such silly zoomies.

My mom is from Italy and immigrated to the US when she was 25. My brother and all of my mom’s family still all live in Italy and I love being connected to Italian culture here.

It’s always fun when you meet another Italian who is dedicated to incredible Italian food. Yesterday we got to deliver eggs and nettles to and wow, their handmade pasta and thoughtfully curated offerings are so beautiful! I can’t wait to take my mom to visit ❤️
