Hello Friends!
Rain, Beautiful rain!! …and vegetables 🥳

Southern Colorado finally got several days of downpours / drizzle, capped off by a full day of beautiful, soaking steady rain…hard on the burn-scar, but much of the land is well-nourished…the grasses and little things underfoot look decidedly happy. There was a slight break on Tuesday, neighbor-peaks dusted, fall foliage on the mountainsides, and cobalt blue sky…

We finally got the last of the roof decking on the house just beforehand, with Ice+Water…so happy

…finally got up into the forest, too… 😊

Thank you all who made it last Friday! It was a cheerful end to the market season, and we were super excited to have some nice things for you all! We’re grateful for your support, we love catching up with you all, and we hope everyone has a good and restful fall 🍂 🍁

The plants are definitely slowing down but the greenhouses are happy. We’ll have Kales, Chard, and Collard for the next couple of months at Sunflower Natural Foods …possibly some Turnips next month… and we’ll probably have another week of Tomatoes, Broccoli, and Cucumbers. DM us if interested! 😃

Microgreens remain in season ….and we’ll keep the fridge at Sunflower well stocked 😎

Hello Friends!
Market day tomorrow, come join us at Jess Price Park 9am - 1pm! 🥳

We’re still on, every Friday through 9/25 😃

For the broader market, Westcliffe Farmers Market has a wonderful mix this week… fresh local produce, honey, delicious baked goods, tamales, hand-crafted leather and fiber arts, and made-to-order sodas. Enjoy them in the park, enjoy them to go!

We can personally vouch for the Cabin Kitchen Co. cherry pie 😁

For our part, we’ll have 🌱
- Beautiful kale
- Rainbow Chard
- Rich deep Collard
- A lovely broccoli!
- Lots of Cucumbers and Tomatoes
- Radish and Sunflower microgreens
- A few fresh herbs, too!

Hello friends!
lol, Friday already?? 🙃 Market Day!

We’ve got a beautiful selection of fresh vegetables for you, and a beautiful flat of Celosia to boot, come check it out! 💐 [edible] highlights include abundant summer Kales, Cucumbers, and Tomatoes 🥳

Late summer flowers are blooming in lots of places… including build-site Coreopsis, Asters hanging out under Cabbage leaves, and happy Zinnias on the greenhouse workbench 😊

Yay local produce! Made chicken salad with awesome, hearty birds from Nola Naturals, Jamber Acres snacking peppers, and some lovely purple-stem Radish micros 😎 …the organic Fujis are from further afield, but maybe someday….

Every day’s a work day…but it’s nice if one can snag 15 minutes on the porch with a piping hot cup of coffee…the evening light on the peaks never gets old…grateful

Thank you everyone who came to market this week, great seeing you! 😃

We’re at Westcliffe Farmers Market, Fridays 9am - 1pm. Always a joy to see friends and regulars, neat to meet more neighbors, and fun to find someone who loves TatSoi as much as we do 😎 We’ve had some beautiful summer mornings, too…diggin' the lovely plaza in Jess Price Park

Speaking of which, hat-tip to High Altitude Garden Club of Westcliffe and the town, the Echinacea beds are looking beautiful!

Summer abundance is kicking in, the plants are happy! 😊 The Kale is thriving, Cucumbers are rolling in, and Al’s Tomatoes are going gangbusters. Lettuce and TatSoi are winding down for the moment (limited bed-space), but we also have Mint, Sage, (big!) Chard, Cabbage, and bunches of the beloved Collard

More Broccoli Micros for Sunflower Natural Foods later this morning…

No posting for two weeks, you say? Been a hot minute! Farm stuff, household stuff…and on the plus, we’re now framing the last section of the house 🥳 Beautiful Doug-Fir rafters now going up over garage…15 of ‘em just last Wed…

…and even on a 10 hour day in the hot sun, somehow, sometimes, you stop and notice something subtle or small underfoot, and beautiful..

Market Day! 🥳

The plants were awesome this week 😊 We’re excited, we have our best selection yet for you, all just harvested...and in town today starting at 9am at Westcliffe Farmers Market
- Fresh cucumbers
- Lettuces!
- Tatsoi (close cousin of Bok Choi, and quite lovely)
- Fresh Mint and Sage
- Guest Tomatoes! (Heirloom and cherries)
- Lots of awesome Microgreens
- Beautiful Kales
- Lovely Rainbow Chard and even a little Collard

Should be warm again, and hopefully clearer skies

Hello Friends!
Quieter but fun day at market!

Thank you to everyone who showed up Westcliffe Farmers Market, good to see you!

Summer harvest is coming into its own, we had our best variety yet this season, and extra bunches of Chard and Kale. We’re also were excited to bring lovely scarlet Tatsoi (cousin of Bok Choi), fresh Cucumbers, Mint, sweet and tender Tokyo Market Turnips, Collard, Al and Simone’s awesome heirloom Tomatoes, and a couple of very happy Marigolds...some of which found a good home with Gushi 😊 We love microgreens, but we’re also excited when the summer abundance kicks in!

Farm updates:
- Shade cloth for the win…and the greenhouses are still up in the 90s!
- We launched our snazzy new (homemade) wash-table, with extra-big fan…we can now dry twice as much produce at a time, much more efficient 😎
- We’ve been able to send more bags of big-greens to Sunflower Natural Foods 🥳
- Wet Mountain Valley’s been getting rain! Yay!
- We’re approved, up, and running to offer the Colorado SNAP Produce Bonus, which provides EBT cardholders an instant rebate for Colorado-grown fruit and vegetable purchases (local farmers in partnership with Nourish Colorado, CDHS, USDA…thank you, Emma, Anjali, and Mark with FIS!)

Hello Friends!
It’s been nutty, but fam and plants are well, and great to see you all at Market! 😊

The last two weeks have been exhausting and exciting - substantial progress on framing the house, plants are thriving, micros have been growing faster than expected …something about the house getting up into the upper-70s when it’s 87F outside 🙃 …and while not part of the farm (officially), the chicken enterprise is expanding (bok!)

This week we harvested some beautiful Chard, scarlet Tatsoi, and our summer staple Kale, in both red and green varieties...

Microgreens are abundant across 3 of 4 varieties, many harvested just yesterday, with the next round of Kohlrabis expected shortly. Marigolds are in bloom, and Guest Tomatoes from Al and Simone are back! 🥳 …though we hear Mr. Rick is putting a dent in the Chocolate Sprinkles...well played, sir 😁

For those who were able to make it, good to see you Westcliffe Farmers Market again! We picked up some nice sourdough, tamales, some amazing donuts, and had fun sharing awesome produce. We really enjoyed Tim Goo’s performance, too, bluesy and chill 😎

We’ve sown a little more Kale for early fall, the Cucumbers are fruiting (yay!), and we’ll start new rounds of Lettuce and Turnip soon (timed for early Fall).

We’re also fine-tuning our wash-room operations, and we should be approved to offer the CO SNAP Produce Bonus shortly, more to follow!

Hello Friends!
Good seeing everyone, and we have mushrooms again! 🥳

Scott, we’re excited to work with you again! We had some beautiful Lion’s Mane on Friday from Wet Mountain Mushroom, and we always love talking recipes 🙂 Our current favorite: Simply pull them apart (like you would cauliflower), and sauté the little morsels in a cast-iron pan with butter or avocado oil, add salt + pepper to taste, til nicely browned… We bet they'd make a fantastic stir-fry... 😎

Market was busy and fun, good to see you all! We had some lovely Kale and Lettuces, a little fresh Sage, a good selection of Microgreens…happy the Broccoli and Pepper starts found good homes 😊 And congratulations to our friend Tracy! She filled out her punch-card and took home a free tin of Sunnies 😃

The Greenhouses are coming along! Tat-Soi is growing nicely, the Turnips are nearing harvest, the Kales are happy, and the Cucumber plants are going gang-busters…more photos soon. Just upgraded the little Greenhouse, too, got a fan installed 😎 …it gets a little warm in there, 100+ some days, even with shade cloth!

Hello friends!
Plants are happy in the greenhouse, and good to see you all at WFM!

Crazy-busy again… Steady progress on construction the last week, birthday parties, and baseball. Back in Silver Cliff, the Cucumbers happy in the greenhouse, the Sage is in bloom, and Pepper starts almost ready to plant! As more lettuces come out of their bed, we’re gaining room to plant [big] Broccoli, too 😎

This week’s micro crop was amazing, so happy…and we have a nice selection Sunflower Natural Foods, too! We just filled the cooler yesterday 🥳 We’re now growing 8 half-trays at a time...For the broccoli lovers out there, two of those are for you.

Thank you again to everyone that came out to Westcliffe Farmers Market, we truly appreciate the support, and the good company 😊 Welcome back to our seasonal friends, excited to talk / offer plant starts, we’re enjoying tamales and baked goods, and as promised, Bill made some [pleasant] noise 😁

While overall production is modest, we’re planning on gradual increases for kale, chard, and collard as we get into July. Most of our garden-starts have sold, but we’ll bring a few more next week. We’re also watching a small patch of Turnip with excitement, more soon...
