So you’re tired of it too?

You know, the protein powders that either:

1️⃣ taste like a literal sugar bomb
or
2️⃣ leave that fake sweetener aftertaste in your mouth for 3 hours 😅

So many quick snacks/protein options are packed with added sugar or super overpowering sweeteners.

…but not protein! (Can we all say “finally!!!”)

It has been my go-to lately because it stands out from all of the other on-the-go sweetened snacks.👏 (And you can save 20% when you click my bio link ❤️)

Lately, I’ve been loving shaking up a packet of Nuzest Clean Lean Protein (Strawberry flavor 🍓) with unsweetened macadamia nut milk, water, and ice for an easy 20g protein pre- or post-workout snack 💪🏼

One thing I personally love is that they don’t use stevia, monk fruit, or artificial sweeteners. They use thaumatin — a naturally sweet-tasting protein from the katemfe fruit — which gives it a much lighter, cleaner taste without the super sweet punch a lot of powders have.

Also, obsessed with the fact that they have SO many flavors + single serving packs so you can try them before committing to a big container 🙌

What if the reason you feel painfully bloated after meals or constantly deal with constipation isn’t just about what you’re eating… but the state your nervous system is in while eating? 👀

Simple habits like these…might seem small or insignificant, but your body is constantly picking up on physical and subconscious safety cues through the autonomic nervous system.

Your nervous system is always scanning both your internal state (breathing, muscle tension, heart rate) and your external environment to decide:

➡️ “Am I safe enough to rest, digest, absorb, and repair?”
or
➡️ “Do I need to stay in stress/survival mode?”

This is why eating while rushed, tense, or mentally overwhelmed can impact digestion more than people realize.

Slow breathing, chewing, softening muscle tension, and bringing awareness to eating send signals through the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system that it’s safe for digestion to fully power up.

This is a huge part of somatic healing and the work I do with clients. We’re changing the physical and subconscious cues the body is responding to every day.

Your body is always listening 👏

When you’re in go-go-go mode, your body can start to feel like a shaken soda bottle 😅

Tight chest, racing thoughts, bloated stomach. Even som cravings can pop up. And feeling “wired” but exhausted at the same time.

And most people either ignore it and just try to make it through. Or, find other ways to cope to feel better. Food, caffeine, alcohol, or looking for the magic trick.

But your nervous system doesn’t respond to overthinking or avoidance.

It responds to “safe” or “release” signals from the body. Like releasing that shaken soda bottle. 🥤

That’s why breathwork and intentional movement can feel so powerful so quickly. It’s physical input that your body tease as “we’re gonna be ok.”

This is one of the fastest ways to shift into rest-and-digest mode, which is the state where digestion, hormone balance, recovery, and healing actually happen.

I’m talking about simple body-based tools:
breathing patterns, grounding movement, gentle mobility, shaking out stress, slowing the pace down, reconnecting to your body instead of constantly pushing through it.

This is a big part of how I help clients regulate stress in my programs. We look at nutrition and routines too, but we work on helping the body actually release stress instead of just carrying it all day long as the foundation.

Because you can eat healthy and do all the “right” things… but if your body still feels like it’s bracing all the time, it’s hard for it to fully respond.

The tip: break away, take deep breaths, and or go for a walk outside. ❤️

ight-or-flight is basically your body’s built-in survival response. Back in primal days, that stress response was meant for real danger — like running away from a tiger 🐅

Today, stress is often way less obvious.

It can be deadlines, pressure, people-pleasing, overthinking, conflict, feeling unsafe emotionally, constantly being “on,” or even subconscious patterns we don’t realize are stressing the body.

A lot of stress today is perceived stress — meaning it’s based on how our nervous system interprets the world around us. Our triggers, past hurts, beliefs, identities, childhood conditioning, or experiences of unsafety can all signal danger to the body, even when consciously we feel “fine.”

So you might think, “I’m not even stressed,” while your body is still responding to familiar stress signals underneath the surface.

That’s why stress can be sneaky 🤍
Your nervous system may still be stuck in protection mode, prioritizing survival over things like digestion, hormones, recovery, and energy.

The good news is there are things we can do to support our nervous system. Our daily habits and routines help shape our Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), and small shifts can allow your body to feel comfotable and safe again, translating to:

- easy digestion
- restored energy
- reduced inflammation
- release of stubborn weight
- painfree periods

It’s very black and white to the nervous system. A body with ongoing symptoms or conditions is a body stuck in survival mode. 🤍

Symptoms like bloating, fatigue, cravings, anxiety, inflammation, stubborn weight, and burnout can all be signs of dysregulated nervous system.

Inside my coaching, I help clients support the body both physically and subconsciously through nutrition, routines, nervous system regulation, and deeper mind-body work so healing actually feels sustainable.

It’s been a transition.

The past month has been transitioning into spring...

Picking up the tennis racket with my husband and nephew,

Making time to work in coffee shops,

Getting back on the horse,

Falling back to winter feels, again and again.

My fuzzy Zoey-girl turning 16,

Browsing flowers and dreaming about landscaping our yards,

And feeling inspired to try different meals, pulling out a recipe book here and there.

Every month brings a new inspriation, perhaps a setback or two, but always memories to keep. Flipping through a past month is a way I like look back at the small stuff and see how feeling grateful doesn’t have to be about the impressive or big things.

Happy May 🌸

I used to think tracking food was the answer, and to be fair, it can be helpful for awareness.

Like seeing how much protein I was actually eating or what I ended up eating all day. But at some point, it stopped feeling helpful.

I was thinking about food all the time: What I needed to hit, if I was on track, or if I was behind.

Sometimes doing more with food actually creates more stress around it, showing up as food noise. More tracking, more calculating, more trying to get it right… your body feels that to its core.

The basics matter more than we think in how we absorb food and digest, like:

- eating consistently
- having balanced meals
- slowing down enough to actually digest
- not feeling rushed while you eat

You can hit your macros perfectly (you can even be a macro-mathematician), but if your body is in stress mode, it doesn't matter.

A stressed body holds onto weight and inflammation. It depletes energy quickly and turns off digestion.

A body-first approach to health is where your energy stabilizes, digestion improves, and your body actually responds without having to obsess over every detail... getting it perfect.

Endless salads and health food alone can't fix your metabolsim. 😵

There was a time when I only focused on what I ate in order to heal my leaky gut, bloating, hormonal issues, and metabolism.

👉🏼 But I ignored my sleep, stress, and moving in a way that was kind to my body.

It can be so frustrating when you are eating all of the right things… but the weight still won’t budge, digestive issues are still there, and your energy is tanked.

⭐️ But it’s because your body is missing feeling SAFE. ⭐️

And our bodies read the 100s of habits and choices we make every day to gauge if they’re “safe” or “unsafe”.

If your body is feeling stress (even the sneaky kind that you can’t detect), it won’t matter that you’re only eating lean protein, salads, and taking all of the supplements.

🥑 Food is medicine, but it can only take you so far if your body is in survival mode where digestion, hormone, and metabolism systems aren't working optimally.

Your body needs to feel safe in order to digest and absorb all of the good food you’re feeding it.

One lifestyle habits that supports your body’s stress levels and gut health this week: Deep breath and mediate for 10 mins every day.

- Set a timer for 10 mins and get comfy, close your eyes
- Slow your breath and focus on body sensations, sounds you hear, use your senses
- Notice thoughts that come and imagine swiping them to the side
- Keep present until the time is up

I joined a gym this year so my husband and I could workout together (so I’m not always instructing 😆).

But something interesting happened.

We got into a routine, taking two weight lifting classes a week at the gym and doing our other workouts at home.

In these classes, it’s all about progressive training, increasing weight as strength builds. Always challenging the body.

Even though I have tons of training in fitness and developed my own online studio, InSync Fitness, my experience went out the door. 🫢

My A+ mentality didn’t want to miss a day of training. Especially with my husband showing up the same consistently, I followEd the vibe. Even though I KNEW we had different hormones cycles going on.

So I shied up 2x a week, and hitting my max.

(Not following my own advice to follow my cycle, energy, and nervous system to adapt my workout intensity and types 😅)

I lifted heavy, ignored my body signs…. And got a migraine and optical auras for the first time in a decade.

My body did not recover over night. I was really sore, fatigued, and not feeling so hot.

But taking one for the team over here 🙋🏻‍♀️ Let’s just say, I put my InSync method to the test and it’s for real.

As women, we are not meant to push the same week by week. We get sculpted, toned, and boost our metabolism when we do the right— and intensity—at the right time for our hormones and nervous system.

So what am I doing now?

⭐️I’m challenging myself in my follicular and ovulation phases (after having a period)

⭐️using lighter weights and bigger rests between sets, and mixing in more barre workouts in my luteal phase (days before period)

⭐️resting, stretching, and walking during my menstrual phase

And THIS is how your body actually responds to your workouts, instead of resisting with inflammation, bloating, fatigue, and belly fat.

Ever feel like workouts just become another thing on your “should” list…
and even when you show up, nothing really changes?

This is for you ❤️

Most women I work with are already doing a lot. Busy schedules, full minds, packed lives…

Then they try to stack intense workouts on top of low energy, stress, and inconsistency and instead of feeling stronger, they feel:

• exhausted
• puffy
• inflamed
• or stuck in a body that isn't responding

So it turns into:
start → stop → start again

And that pesky question starts to come up "what’s wrong with me?"

But nothing is wrong.

It's just that your body doesn't respond well to being pushed all the time. It responds to feeling cared for and safe enough to adapt.

I created InSync Fitness from this shift. From a place of pushing and frustration to adapting and support.

It’s for the girl who:
• wants to feel fit and toned without burning out
• wants consistency to feel doable
• is done with workout plans that aren't realistic
• knows her body needs something different if she wants to see results

This is what we focus on instead: matching your workouts to your energy, your cycle, and your nervous system so your body can actually build, recover, and respond. Instead of working out harder, you work out smarter.

Periods don't go irregualar for no reason... it's the body making a cut-throat decision.

Your hormones respond to what your body experiences every day (at the conscious, subconscious, and nervous system level).

So when your body feels:
• under-fueled
• inconsistent
• stressed
• always “on”

…it can press pause on ovulation, even if you don't feel "stressed".

This is when you start noticing:
• irregular or missing periods
• worse PMS
• low progesterone
• feeling off in your body

But instead of these signs being confusing or scary, when you understand the nervous system, you know it's your body sending you a message to change.

This is what I focus on with my clients: turning off the stress signals disrupting their body.

We look at:
✨ more consistent nourishment
✨ supportive routines
✨ less internal pressure
✨ habits your body can trust getting its needs met

Because when your body feels safe enough to shift to "rest and digest" mode… your hormones follow.

If you’ve been trying to “fix” your hormones and still feel stuck, comment “QUIZ” and I’ll send you a FREE quiz to find your Body-Stress Type and what to do next ❤️ (You can also grab it in my bio.)
