I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Roger @ Wilson Oil Company!! Last week at the Lawrence/ Wayne County Cattlemen’s Dinner he won a little ride on Case tractor from H & R Agripower and donated it back to be auctioned off, then bought it back and donated the money to the 4H kids! 🍀

It’s great to have local businesses help our next generation of farmers, they need our support now more then ever! 🍀

Progress update on the old 1850s barn project — moving slow, but moving forward.

We’ve been cutting white oak out of the woods, dragging it up, and running it through the sawmill. We’re about halfway through the process, and while it’s a lot of work, it’s been worth every bit of it.

It’s just an old barn to most people, but it means a whole lot more to me.

Had some great help through the holidays from all the kids and mommy

As we close out 2025, we’re proud to share a quick look at one of our first home-bred heifer groups. Born, raised, and trained right here on the ranch, they’re everything we aim for: quality and workability. Here’s to a great year behind us and even better cattle ahead in 2026!

Nothing better than having all the kids home for Christmas and working cows together.
Finished up cows and calves to close out 2025—memories made and work done.
That’s what the ranch is all about.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year’s to all of our friends and family

We’ve been buying those “cheap” cattle feeders for years… and if you were lucky, they’d last two or three years before turning into complete junk.

Well, now they aren’t cheap anymore — they’re just expensive junk.

So instead of throwing money away, we got a little resourceful. 👀
By keeping our eyes open for old scrap metal, we were able to build heavy-duty feeders that cost us less than buying the flimsy new ones on the market today.

These aren’t disposable.
They aren’t light-duty.
They’re built to last — likely for the long haul.

Update #2 on the 1850s Barn Project

Matthew came home from UT Martin and helped us take down a few white oaks. We poured the foundation and are waiting on the trusses. Once they’re ready, we’ll start sawmilling the lumber and then framing the build.

Thank you for all the questions and messages. I’ll keep you updated as this project moves along.
