For the past 3 years I have a lot of trouble trying to find the Kale seed i want. Many of my regular companies are sold out. I finally found some but it was quite expensive as I purchased a 2-3 year supply. Wondering what the problem is I found this article.

Well, I see not much has changed from my last post! I am still Iliving in a "house boat"! That also explains what I am about to comment on. . . the price of produce!! Just returned from the grocery store where I saw the price of regular Cauliflower at $4.49 per Lb! Wondering about such a high price, even at this time of year, I looked up the business reports for agriculture in AZ and California. WOW, was I shocked and caught off guard! I have been expermenting with a fall garden this year, as many of you know, so have been buying very little produce so far. I had no idea of the effects of the fall weather down in those areas. I did hear this morning, on the Weather Channel, about the problems with the produce supply in Florida but they have been quiet about the Western supply ( and I watch that channel all the time)! So, hang on to your wallets everyone, it is going to be a tough ride for produce prices this fall and winter. I am going to be rethinking even more about my approach for next year.

I have been very busy preparing the various beds and getting things planted. I am about halfway thru right now as the rain has slowed me down a little even if the plants are loving it!!

Today I designed and built a new row cover system. This reflects my current way of
thinking that I should use them more as mini-greenhouses than traditional row covers. This is especially true going into a fall growing season.
