I just wanted to give an update since finally returning home. I've just been trying to catch up on a few things around the homestead along with other maintenance issues that have popped up. (As a welcome home surprise, of course!) 🤣😅

BUT!

This evening, our chicks got their first taste of freedom after acclimating to their new coop.

They're now around 6 weeks old, some will produce eggs sooner than the others, and our other 4 grown hens will be joining them eventually, but right now, we're just relishing in their cuteness. 🐔🌲

Once you switch from store-bought eggs to fresh eggs, there’s no going back.

Better quality, better taste, and you know exactly where they come from and what the chickens are fed. Not to mention that rich golden yolk!

You really can’t beat fresh eggs. 🥚🌲

🌲🌲While our eggs are our current focus here at Porch & Pine Homestead, we have a few additional things in the works that I have been wanting to do for years.

I have always enjoyed coming up with different spice mixes and tweaking recipes until they're just right. Being away has actually given me time to really dial things in and I have been so excited to finally start sharing some of that progress!

What are y'all's favorite things to throw in the smoker or on the grill? 🔥🔥
