We are so excited to have our freezer at The Greenhouse on Grand fully stocked and ready to serve Roodhouse! We have hamburgers, ground beef, steaks, roasts, and brisket.

Stop by and see us to grab some homegrown beef and vegetable plants or seeds! Make a meal of it!!!

With grilling season beginning, now is the perfect time to get your beef booked! Quarters, halves, and wholes are available for multiple April dates, with processing being done and ready for pick up the end of April and beginning to mid May.

Went searching through old recipe boxes today for a fresh way to use our delicious beef and stumbled upon a real treasure šŸ„©ā¤ļø Two recipes from Doris Strang, Chad’s grandmother.

There’s just something so special about seeing her handwriting… and even sweeter is the recipe with Gail’s edits. These cards are such a beautiful reminder that family recipes aren’t just about food—they’re about the stories passed down with them.

Would you like a delicious meal idea for a snow day? If, so enjoy the recipe below!

The freezer at Brantzel’s is restocked, so stop in and grab a roast (or some steaks) before the snow sets in!

Slow Cooker Chuck Roast

Ingredients
•2 lb chuck roast
•Salt and black pepper, to taste
•1–2 tbsp oil (for searing)
•3–4 potatoes, chopped
•3–4 carrots, chopped
•1–2 cups beef broth
•2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Optional seasonings:
•Garlic (fresh or powder)
•Onion or onion powder
•Fresh or dried herbs (thyme, rosemary, or bay leaf)

Instructions

Season & Sear the Roast
•Season the chuck roast generously with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides until browned (about 2–3 minutes per side). This step adds extra flavor but can be skipped if needed.
•Place the chopped potatoes and carrots in the bottom of the crock pot.
•Set the seared chuck roast on top of the vegetables.
•Add Liquid & Seasonings
•Pour beef broth around the roast (not directly over it, if possible). Add any additional seasonings or herbs.

Cook

•Low: 6–8 hours or
•High: 4–5 hours
•Cook until the meat is fork-tender and easily pulls apart.

Serve

•Slice or shred the roast and serve with the vegetables and cooking juices.

There are also still two halves available for bulk beef purchase! They can be quartered or go together with friends and family and split a half!
