As I closed my mailbox today, full of more forms, more checks, more expenses, and a whole lot more hopes & dreams, I couldn’t help but think about all of the “little guys” out there just like us.
The small programs.
The young stallion owners.
The breeders building something from the ground up.
The people quietly trucking toward what we can only hope will someday become a successful program.
Hoping for that one mare.
That one contract.
That one baby.
That one win that puts your name on the board.
That one run where everything comes together just right and finally gives people a glimpse of what you have believed in all along.
Because sometimes… all it takes is one.
One mare.
One baby.
One person who believes in your stallion.
One opportunity.
One run.
One “yes.”
In the right hands.
In the right place.
At the right time.
We can hope, right? 🩷
Every tear. Every late night. Every dollar. Every stressful decision. Every sacrifice.
It all comes down to that little dream we have for our program.
And I’ll be the first to admit—I haven’t “made it.”
There have been days I’ve sat at home looking at a horse with more talent in one hoof than I could have ever imagined, and instead of seeing everything he is, I found myself picking apart everything that wasn’t perfect.
I got scared.
I got discouraged.
I overthought it.
So we stepped back.
We let him rest.
We regrouped.
And we reminded ourselves why we believed in him in the first place.
The little guys need to be seen.
Not every great stallion is standing at a major operation.
Not every incredible mare is owned by a big-name breeder.
Not every future champion comes from a program everyone already knows.
Some of them are sitting in a pasture somewhere, owned by someone who has poured their heart, time, money, sweat, and entire soul into believing in them.
Some of them are owned by people who are still trying to figure it all out.
People who are still filling out forms.
Still writing checks.
Still promoting.
Still learning.
Still dreaming.
Still hoping someone will finally see what they see.
And those people deserve a shot, too.
So this is my little reminder to the small programs, young stallion owners, breeders, and dreamers:
DON’T QUIT.
Don’t let a slow year convince you that your horse isn’t good enough.
Don’t let a “no” make you stop asking.
Don’t let someone else’s success make you forget how far you’ve already come.
And please—don’t underestimate what one opportunity can do.
Because you never know which mare is going to produce the one.
You never know which baby is going to make the phone ring.
You never know which run is going to make someone stop scrolling and say…
“I want one just like that.”
Maybe your stallion is the next one.
Maybe mine is.
Maybe that little mare down the road is.
Maybe that horse nobody knows about yet is the one who changes everything.
So here’s to the little guys. 🩷
The ones building from the ground up.
The ones nobody is talking about yet.
The ones who keep showing up when it would be easier to quit.
Keep promoting.
Keep believing.
Keep putting your horses in front of people.
Keep giving them a chance to be seen.
Because sometimes…
It really does only take one.
And we’re going to keep showing you exactly why we believed in this little guy from the very beginning. 🐴🩷
