First babies of the birthing season were born yesterday!
This mama is Ushi (one of my favorite girls and one of the stars of our herd) and her two little bucklings!
Ushi is our biggest doe and an incredible forager. Her milk is my favorite but sheβs stubborn as heck and a pain in the rear on the milking stand. She is a noble leader in our herd and not a bully at all. I was hoping for a doe out of her to keep, but bucklings are fine too!
She was bred in August to our naturally polled buck, Sam.
Next up for birthing should be Sweet Pea, our mini Nubian! She is another great milker, we use her milk in our coffee as creamer. Excited to get back into the land of flowing milk.
Hopefully all of our does were successfully bred this summer/fall and we will have a prosperous year with milk for Walking with the Goats, making cheese, yogurt, cream and soaps!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
