Yesterday my cruise ship brought me to the Netherlands, where my daughter lives, and we were able to do something truly meaningful. My mother recently passed away, and my daughter and I honored her memory with a small celebration of life.

We cooked my mom’s yummy stuffed bell peppers. We didn’t have time to make her famous Ranger cookies or her incredible pear cake, but those will have their moment again one day.

My mom was a caring, giving, wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother… and lover of all-things Elvis Presley. 🎸 I will always miss her. But as I spent time with my own amazing daughter and granddaughter, I felt comforted by the fact that my mom left a legacy of love, and in many ways, she continues to live on in our family. 💕

My latest video is all about retirement, including an insightful interview with Financial Independence expert JL Collins. I retired from my corporate career at 52 while living on cruise ships, and I’ve shared that openly. When a few commenters called me a liar for using the word “retired,” it stung, because transparency is important to me.
The reality is that I retired only from corporate life. I’m financially independent now, and the videos I make are something I want to do, not something I have to do.

Either way, I love the FREEDOM that I worked hard to build.

People often ask if living on a cruise ship gets lonely. Nope. Partly because I take “land vacations” a few times a year to reconnect with family and friends. Last week I spent time with my childhood BFF Missy and her wonderful husband, showing them around some of the best spots in the UK.
40 years of friendship and still having FUN like we’re back in junior high.
