Should We Book It I always find myself planning brunches, weekend getaways, and long vacations. BUT planning comes with so many questions: Where should we go? Where should we eat?

Does it have good reviews? Is there something for everyone? Is it expense? Should We Book It?

Should We Book It: Yes
RUN, DON’T WALK.
Food: I would recommend starting with the margarita ‘sorbet’ or the blueberry cucumber smash. For food, I would suggest getting the bread board or sunflower hummus (both are great), ricotta gnocchi, and Branzino (if available). The margarita is to DIE FOR - it comes garnished with the most delicious sorbet. The blueberry cucumber smash was the first drink I tried when I first came here. I think this going to be my signature drink at my wedding because it is THAT good (anyone who knows me, knows that I love fruit in my drinks). The bread board comes with focaccia and different flavors of their house cultured butter (who doesn’t LOVE BUTTER - sry vegans). CREAMY sunflower hummus + warm pita bread = match made in heaven. The ricotta gnocchi… it’s all in the name, what kind of genius makes gnocchi with ricotta? It was the fluffiest most delicious gnocchi I’ve ever had. Feed the table - Fish of the day - Branzino? GET IT I would get the Branzino over and over again, it was cooked to perfection… almost criminal. It’s is a huge fish so make sure you come hungry! End the night with the graffie - a pastry like donut with caramelized banana and toasted walnut.
Atmosphere: Immaculate vibes - the bar was beautiful and the main dining area was chic and modern. Everyone in this restaurant was so happy and full of life (probably because everyone is finally seeing their friends again and they were eating great food). The service was great - no complaints! We even met the co-owner who was extremely humble, gracious and kind!
Ideal party size: 2 - 4 - This is a great spot for date night or dinner with friends. It’s not too quiet or too dim where you feel like its a restaurant only meant for couples… everyone is chatting away having a good time.
Price: $$ - Depending on what and how much you get you can spend anywhere from $35 - $60 per person (no tax in DE - woohoo). It is worth every gosh darn cent!

Should We Book It: No
This was a good place for bottomless but I wouldn’t come here again. If you are looking to do something casual with your friends this is a good place but I wouldn’t say you are missing out on the New York experience if you don’t visit.
Food: I ordered the Chicken and Waffle. The chicken was pipping hot and juicy - the waffle was not too crisp/not too dry. I’m not sure what the heck they put in this but every time I took a bite it was like I couldn’t get enough. Vince ordered the steak and eggs (subbed the potatoes for sweet potato fries) and it came with chimichurri which compliments steak so well (IYKYK). The steak and fries were also a hit. Actually our entire table got the chicken and waffles or the steak and eggs.. everyone loved the food - no ra-grets. Also they have different variations of mimosas - original with orange juice, peach, passion fruit (don’t order the kit Royale - it was gross and too sweet). We loved the OJ and Peach - Passion fruit was a little too bitter for my liking
Atmosphere: We ate outside 😅. It was freezing this day. The outdoor seating structure was fine. The tables were far from the other groups, the heater above our head was not very warm (it was a windy day). I’m going to be honest - we were freezing but we were here for a good time not a long time. The server was amazing, the moment we finished a pitcher she was ready to bring us a new one.
Ideal party size: 6-8 - This is a spot for a groups of friends to get drunk on a Saturday. When I went into the restaurant to use the restroom, I was getting sport bar vibes (which really isn’t my type).
Price: $40 for brunch + bottomless - The tax and tip ended up coming to $50 per person. This isn’t a bad price for bottomless.
Again - great food and bottomless but there was nothing particularly special about this place.

Should We Book It: YES
Airbnb (home and amenities): “The Log cabin is a celebration of wood construction and craftsmanship” - I couldn’t have said it better myself (this is from the description of the airbnb post). This airbnb was beautiful! It was spacious and had everything you needed for a weekend: games, pots, pans, seasoning, utensils, glasses, plates, sheets, extra blankets, etc. Most of the Airbnb’s I have been to only consist of a bed, sofa and TV… so I was surprised to find so much kitchenware 😂.
I loved how the kitchen flowed right into the dining room because this is where we spent a majority of our time. We were either cooking, snacking, cleaning, or playing our favorite game Resistance/Avalon (we brought this game ourselves) in this kitchen/dining room area.
Beware of 2 things: 1) There is 1 shower (1.5 bath) - the shower had terrible water pressure and the hot water was not consistent. When I was showering I was basically doing a back bend in the shower because the water was either scorching hot or cold. I was trying to wash my hair as quick as possible. Personally this wasn’t a deal breaker since we were there for 2 nights, but this is something you should be aware of. 2) There is no proper wifi - only a hotspot - so this is not a place that you can rent for a month and WFH. Luckily this house is not in the middle of the woods so everyones cell reception (data) was fine. I think if you are getting away for a while you shouldn’t need the internet anyways.
Location: This was a 1 hour and 20 minute drive from Manhattan which is great. There was a ShopRite and Liquor store just 15 minutes from the house. Like I mentioned above the cell reception was fine, I had no issues with scrolling in IG/Tiktok. The house itself was propped on a hill so when we went outside to play football it made for a great workout. This house has a pool which would be a huge perk if you visited in the summer.
Price: We ended up paying $82 a night for 8 people which I would say is totally worth it especially with all the Airbnb fees - $82 a night per person is a great deal.
Feel free to ask any additional questions below!

Should We Book It: YES
Food: We ordered the sausage & kale pizza with a side of brussel sprouts. The pizza was unbelievable. The crust was crispy yet soft, each bite had sausage and kale, and the cheese combination was to die for. It was not greasy, soggy, or too salty. ORDER IT. The brussel sprouts were roasted to perfection with wafu* dressing and apple slices. I wish I could explain the taste of wafu* but you have to trust me and try it. Our friends ordered the truffle pizza and Caesar salad. We didn’t try their food but they were really happy with their choice. Also, they ordered drinks here and said that they were phenomenal so just know if you are contemplating whether you should order a drink… you should just do it.
Atmosphere: There were tables on the side walk with overhead heaters (for groups of 4) and heated chalets (for groups of 2). We sat at the table for 4 on the side walk. The overhead heaters were VERY WARM, we were pleasantly surprised. The service was great! No complaints. BTW the restaurant looked beautiful inside so make sure you check it out!
Ideal party size: 4 - This is a great restaurant to bring your family. Our outdoor set up was perfect for a group of 4. Make a reservation before you go!
Overall great experience at Upland!
*Wafu dressing, literally "Japanese-style dressing", is a vinaigrette-type salad dressing based on tosazu, popular in Japan.

Should We Book It: YES
Food: Vince and I ordered the ragu, whaley’s burger (with sweet potato fries), hot chocolate, and latte. The pasta in the ragu was cooked to perfection, it was soft and melted in your month but wasn’t mushy? Idk how they did it. Personally I would have liked a more traditional red sauce because it was almost like a slow-cooked beef sauce. However, the short rib in the ragu was *chefs kiss*. The Whaley’s burger came with panini bread instead of a typical sesame bun which made it… interesting. The burger came with beet, pineapple, and a fried egg which sounded cool, but honestly we wouldn’t order it again. Their sweet potato fries though… an ABSOLUTE MUST, I would come here just to munch on their sweet potato fries. I have tried many garlic aioli’s but this just hit different. As for the drinks, you can’t go wrong! The hot chocolate was so good, I drank the entire thing in approximately 3 minutes. The latte was delicious too!
Atmosphere: The outdoor seating structure was super cute but it’s only made for groups of 2 (kips bay). There were dividers that separated each party but we still sat very close to each party. Since the dividers were clear, it was so hard NOT to stare at the other people sitting next to us. Eventually I got over it lol. There were other tables on the side walk and I think I saw a group of 4 and 6. The service was good, no complaints!
Ideal party size: 2 - This is a great spot for a casual lunch with a friend. Not to mention, they charged us an extra 7.5% for covid safety measures (outdoor seating structure, heaters, and dividers). You can expect to spend between $20 - $30 per person. You CANNOT make a reservation, walk-in only.
Overall great experience at Ruby’s cafe! I would come again, and probably get a salad or sandwich.

Food: Vince, Sam, and I ordered the kimchi pancakes, beef bulgogi, spicy chicken with mozzarella cheese, and the yuzu soju cocktail. The kimchi pancakes were crispy yet fluffy - so good. The beef bulgogi was great (but a tad greasy). The only regret I had was not ordering an extra side of rice. The spicy chicken with mozzarella was spicier then I expected but the over all dish was yummy because it the flavors were balanced between the gochujang spice, mozz cheese, and cabbage. We ordered the yuzu soju cocktail and we were surprised because it was a frozen cocktail - but you better believe we finished it with ease... so tasty. You should order the soju cocktail if you are drinking!
Atmosphere: The outdoor seating structure was pretty nice. They had heaters and blankets for each person. The service was subpar, luckily we weren’t in a rush. When we arrived the server gave us a heads up that the food was going to take longer to come out as they had a smaller staff that night. Overall, we were pleased with the outdoor seating structure, the food, and the service (since the server set our expectations at the beginning).
Ideal party size: 4 - This is a great spot for a casual dinner with friends because the portions are huge (as long as you are down with eating family style). You can expect to spend between $25 - 40 per person ($40 if you get drinks).
Overall pleasant experience at Bangia! I was told that the Army Stew is a staple. Also, I saw a tiktok from the creator post a video of the truffle oil chapaguri and it looked BOMB. Let me know if you go to Bangia and try any of the food! I would love to share :)
