This bill WILL kill off all Virginia CBD companies. Out of state companies will LOVE IT!
Tell the senators that this is obviously not a serious piece of legislation. This legislation was clearly not written by anyone who cares about Virginia farmers, businesses, or consumers. This bill violates federal law and federal court rulings, and that perhaps later this year we can elect some senators who actually know what they're talking about and will bring legitimate legislation to the table that actually does something beneficial AND has the blessing of the Virginia H**p Coalition - whom they should've been working with from the beginning.

Senator Emmett Hanger’s Bill - SB 903 is coming up in the Senate Cannabis Sub-Committee tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8am. We also may have h**p related bills that will be heard in the main Senate Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee this Friday at 8am so stay tuned for an update on that or check the link for the docket (link below) which will posted tomorrow or Thursday. Instead of supporting the Virginia h**p industry this holds them to Class 1 Misdemeanors and 10,000 per day fines and 1,000 dollar registration fees - all for CBD products.
SB 903 will greatly harm the current Virginia h**p industry, strike unnecessary fear among small and large businesses in the Commonwealth, and create regulatory havoc to all retailers just wanting to sell CBD products and the like. Any product with a h**p extract would be affected. The Virginia General Assembly will make a huge mistake if it passes this bill and puts it on the Governor’s desk as he will sign it, as it is a misguided bill coming from the administration.
SB 903 is a wide enforcement and red tape net thrown over the entire Virginia h**p industry. Online retailers and out of state operations will still flood their products into the State - as this bill only hurts Virginians trying to abide by the patchwork of confusing and always changing rules and regs) to tackle issues that don’t need this heavy handed and over the top approach. We need simple and clear regulations for product safety and to eliminate bogus counterfeit products that appeal to children by mimicking popular candy and snack foods. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater is not just bad policy, it’s a punch in the gut to all the folks who have invested their time and money to building their businesses and all those retailers that provide good products to their grateful customers.
Now is the time to contact your State Senator and ask them to vote NO on this destructive bill. Please show up to testify in person to the committees on Wednesday and Friday. If you cannot attend in person, please email the Senators below. This is your chance to speak truth to the politicians that have our industries fate in their hands.
