Please forgive the long post, but this story is soooo exciting! A few years ago, Jack and I bred our stallion “Elvis On Impulse “ to one of our mares “Think Ima Lil Hot”. The resulting foal was a stud c**t that was born a month early. He was small and his hocks didn’t develop just right, but we just couldn’t put him down so we let him grow knowing that we wouldn’t be able to sell him as a show horse. A friend of mine at work, Lisa Higbee, had just lost her show gelding and she was “horseless” so I ask her if she would like a project horse. She was very excited and so were we because we knew that Lisa would take very good care of him. We gave Maxxamus to her and she proceeded to care for him and train him. In fact, she showed him in western pleasure and showmanship several times. She then bred him to a few select mares. Fast forward to this past week where one of Maxx’s foals “The Ivy Leaguee” was named A World Champion in the Level 1 Horse Non Pro Showmanship with owner Ellie Schommer. Congratulations to Ellie and “The Ivy Leaguee” on your win, to Lisa for never giving up on Maxxamus and to Elvis On Impulse who is now the Grandsire of a World Champion!
