It's market week! ☀️ The weather looks great and we'll be at the Brandon SD Farmers Market tomorrow Saturday, February 11th! The trailer is fully stocked and rumor has it the hens think spring has sprung so we will have eggs as well! 🥚🍳
Pork cuts are available at the market or ask about our whole and half options. 🥓🍖
When we have a first time mom have babies and show no interest, we have to step in. We are the caretakers. Our daughter found these 3 babies cold in our hoop today. After a few hours in a cozy bedded box in the basement bathroom, she was able to return 3 alert, warm, wiggly babies to the barn. ❤
We took pigs to the butcher this morning and this doesn't happen very often, but we have two available. If you've been wanting to fill your freezer, now's your chance! You can take a half or whole, and if you let us know ASAP, we can get your cutting instructions to the butcher.
We woke up to a cold house this morning, so Jake is on the hunt for a part to get the furnace up and going again. Due to this, we are not going to be in Brandon today. Sorry for any inconvenience.

We've had a busy week with several litters born. Yes, we farrow year round because this breed can handle it. They are hardy, with good mothers and powerful survival instincts. We provide a building out of the wind and warm, dry bedding perfect for lots of literal pig(let) piles. 😉

Hey Worthington! We're set up and rolling at the 10th Street Pavilion from 3-6! Make sure you stop down for super fresh sweet corn (that we just picked last night), and our very own pastured pork cuts. 🌽 🥓
Our pigs spend their entire lives outside rolling in the mud, soaking up the sun and being happy pigs. They eat grass, bugs, and are supplemented with grain from the local elevator. The meat is beautifully marbled and tender. Come give it a try! 🥓 🌞 🌾

Brandon SD Farmers Market
Today we had more babies born on the farm; that's 59 this month. These piglets are born outside and remain outside until they are harvested. They are considered pasture raised.
Pasture raised pigs are not just given access to the outdoors, but they are constantly outside under the big blue sky or gray today. They sleep outside under the stars, they're given access to shelter from storms and when the sun is to hot they lay under the trees.
They breath fresh air - all the time.
They see the sky - all the time.
They are free to roam - all the time.
They spend most of their day rooting around the pasture eating grass, roots and grubs. We do supplement their diet with feed from the local mill which consists of corn and soybeans grown by local farmers like us.
Saturday we'll be at the Brandon SD Farmers Market with our great pasture raised pork products we hope to see you there!

Our next mama is "looking heavy" according to our 7 year old barn manager Lawson so we moved her to a farrowing pen and now we wait.
Bee update! Jake took the screens off of the hive this morning and the bees seem to be adjusting. We have been feeding them sugar water, and they have some empty frames and some frames with honey to encourage them to start living and working here. You can see in this video how they are going up and down outside the hive, they are memorizing the pattern we have painted on the hive so they know where their home is. Bees are amazing!! 🐝🍯 We are hopeful that they will stay!
Here is the brawn behind the operation laying plastic with drip tape underneath. The plastic helps with weed control & the drop tape allows for efficient watering. It’s a pretty neat implement!
