Ta-da! I am really, really happy with how these turned out!

I have two trusted butter bean connoisseurs lined up to test them tomorrow, but of course I had to do a little taste test myself. The verdict? These Sweet Onion Pickled Butter Beans are absolutely packed with flavor, and I am so excited about them. This is my first time making them, and I think you all are going to love them.

These butter beans came from a local farmer, and if they are a hit, I'll be making sure to grab a lot more from him next time they're available before he sells out. He is known for selling out fast! If you all enjoy them, I may even add butter beans to our garden plans next year. We already grow plenty of beans around here, although I'll admit most of those end up on my own dinner table. Especially the green beans!

We are also hoping to grow enough next year to finally make some dilly beans, which has been one of the most requested items for our shop.

Even better, I'll try to have samples of these sweet onion pickled butter beans available in our fridge inside of The Sassy Sisters this weekend, along with some pickle samples too. Stop by and give them a try while they last because those samples tend to disappear pretty quickly!

Avoiding the heat outside and doing a thing today inside, trying out a new canned recipe, with some tweaks from yours truly. Working with new vegetables and recipes makes me anxious. But if it turns out how I'm hoping it will, it could rival our pickled cucumbers!!!

It's a little late, but we've been busy bees all day getting our space at Fair Winds Farmstead stocked up and ready for the 35 Mile Yard Sale tomorrow!

The fun kicks off at 8 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. at The Sassy Sisters and all along the 460 route through local antique shops, gift stores, and small businesses. It's one of our favorite days of the year for treasure hunting, meeting new faces, and supporting the amazing local businesses that make our community special.

We spent the day restocking our old fashioned sodas, bringing in 12 dozen fresh eggs straight from our farm, restocking some favorite goat milk soaps, and adding new country cottage home decor. We also brought in our first batch of the year of Mauw Mauws Sweet Pickles, our award winning recipe that took First Place at the Isle of Wight County Fair pickle contest last year! We are running a little low on our Picklelicious Dill and Bread & Butter pickles, but don't worry. If they happen to sell out tomorrow, we'll have more ready to restock by Sunday or when the shop reopens Wednesday.

We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow. Come spend the day exploring, shopping small, and finding a few treasures to take home. Have a wonderful weekend, and be sure to stop by and say hello! ❤️🥒🥚🚜🌻

If you've stopped by our shop space this past week, you may notice we've been busy making a few upgrades and changes to our little general store section. We're excited to be expanding and offering even more inventory, especially handmade and homegrown items that we know so many of you enjoy.

We're also thrilled to announce that our first two batches of pickles for the season have officially arrived. We currently have our Puckerlicious Dill Pickles and our customer favorite Bread & Butter Pickles available in the shop. As more cucumbers start rolling in from the garden, we'll be working on Mauw Mauw's Sweet Pickles next and hopefully introducing a few new flavors later this season.

Another exciting addition coming soon is fresh herbs, dried herbs, and handcrafted seasoning blends made from herbs grown right here in our garden. This is something we've been looking forward to offering and we can't wait to share it with you.

We'll be adding a lot of new inventory over the next week as we get ready for the 35 Mile Yard Sale on June 13th. It's always a wonderful day to support local businesses and discover unique antiques, furniture, handmade goods, and hidden treasures all along Route 460.

We hope everyone has a beautiful weekend. Be sure to stop by and visit us inside The Sassy Sisters and see what's new!

I finally have it!

After months of testing and tweaking formulas here at home, our very first handcrafted all purpose cleaner is finally coming to the shop inside of The Sassy Sisters . These are plant based, vinegar free, and made completely by us from start to finish.

While I was finishing the first batch, my husband walked in and said, “It smells like a grandma’s kitchen in here,” and honestly that was the biggest compliment because that cozy, fresh country kitchen feeling was exactly what I was going for.

We finally settled on three scents that I absolutely love. Hearth and Herb, Kitchen Garden, and Summer Pantry. They smell so fresh and clean while still having that warm cottage feel. These are safe for almost all surfaces, and we intentionally kept them vinegar free for easier everyday use around the home.

We will have bottles available first, and later this week we’ll also be working on refill options with even more scents coming soon. We are so excited about this new line and truly hope you all love them as much as we do.

Love to see it! The path is a bit of a mess from all the rain all and the pecan trees above (should get a bunch of pecans at end of the year again), but we have cucumbers!!! I'm very picky with what I use for making our famous pickles, (we prefer pickling variety), so that's all that is growing here.

I really am thinking we might have enough at the end of the week to make at least a small batch of pickles. Puckerlicious Dill first, because our dill is coming in beautifully too, and then Bread and Butter next. I know y'all can't wait, just like we can't. Pickle season is almost here!!!

We added a bunch of new Old Fashioned Soda in our fridge this morning, including some of your favorites restocked. Simple ingredients with big taste, country charm, and plenty to browse.

If you’re looking for something to do this rainy weekend, come on down and visit us inside The Sassy Sisters . We have lots of homemade country goodies! Plus, there are so many wonderful vendors in the store, each with something special to offer. Come wander, shop, and see what treasures you can find this weekend!

Thank you all so much for being patient with us lately. My family has been recovering from a nasty little stomach bug the past almost two weeks, but thankfully we are all finally feeling better and now playing catch up around the store and with product restocks. We just dropped off eight dozen fresh eggs yesterday and will be bringing more tomorrow and Sunday as well for anyone needing eggs this week.

We also brought in a ton of new inventory to go along with our homemade dish soap line, restocked our sold out body sprays Siren's Song and Cleopatra, and finally have our fully cured limited edition Ostrich Oil Cold Process Soap available in the store. We are absolutely obsessed with this soap and even have free samples available in front of the display if you want to try it before purchasing.

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be bringing in even more new inventory as we continue catching up, including hopefully our first batches of pickles for the season. The lack of rain slowed our cucumbers down, but after this rainy weekend we’re hoping they really take off. We hope everyone enjoys their weekend, and if you’re looking for something fun to do indoors, definitely come shop with us inside of The Sassy Sisters and check out all the new goodies we’ve been bringing in lately.
