Hey y’all! Thanks so much for being patient while our egg section in the fridge at The Sassy Sisters has been a little empty the past few weeks. Our older hens have been molting, but our younger ladies are finally starting to lay. Fresh farm eggs should be back in the shop this week, with regular pickup customers getting first dibs.

Persimmons are coming too! We’ve had a wonderful harvest and will be bringing several bushels into the shop over the next few days for those of you interested in really picked Fuyu Persimmons. We’ll also have cozy fall goodies, including our Fall Simmer Pot Potpourri and Five Guards Simmer Pot (perfect simmer pot when feeling or recovering from being sick!!).

Hey y’all! Guess who’s working at The Sassy Sisters today?! 🙋‍♀️

I know quite a few of y’all have asked when I’d be working at the shop again, so I’m giving it a go today! It’s a little harder these days with my little girl in tow, but I’ve always loved working here, so hopefully today goes well and I can start popping in for a Sunday here and there. I’ll make sure to give y’all a heads up next time, and maybe even bring along some fresh baked goodies! 😉 Come by today, say hey, and talk homesteading with me. I’d love to see some familiar faces!

Meanwhile, Fairwinds Farmstead is BUSY getting ready for the next couple of months. 🍁 We’re still adding more fall goodies, restocking canned goods and a TON of our Bath & Body favorites, and I’ve already started thinking ahead to holiday soaps and gift sets. I’d especially love to bring back some fun little gift sets for the kiddos this year! If there’s something you’d love to see us make for Christmas, let me know. I’m always looking for ideas.

And speaking of goodies… our pecan trees have officially started dropping!That means fresh pecan treats will be making their way back into the shop starting very soon, and I KNOW how much y’all love those! Our Persimmon trees produced quite a bit of fruit this year that is almost ready too. We'll be making jam and butter from those soon when they are, plus we'll have a few small bundles of fresh Persimmon fruit available in our store fridge too.

October is going to be one busy month around the farmstead with lots of restocking, canning, soap making, baking, and slowly getting ready for the holidays.

Our little family got to enjoy The Isle of Wight County Fair this past Sunday! 🎡🤎 It was definitely a little hotter than we would’ve liked, but we still had such a wonderful day together and are already looking forward to next year!

Now it’s back to work because we’re getting ready for The Sassy Sisters Car Show this Sunday! And y’all, it looks like we’re FINALLY getting some beautiful fall weather this weekend. I know I can’t be the only one excited about that!

This week’s kitchen list includes more pepper jellies, including our Party Jalapeño Pepper Jelly, Southern Chow Chow, fresh fig jam made with the figs we’ve collected from our own trees, a peach jam restock, candied jalapenos and I’m hoping to have fresh candied pecans ready for Sunday too! Our pecan trees are absolutely LOADED this year, so we need to make room for the new crop coming soon. 😂

We’ll be adding lots of goodies throughout the week, so be sure to stop by The Sassy Sisters this Sunday for the car show and see what’s new!

And fall is officially creeping into our bath & body section! We’ve started putting out our Fall & Halloween collection, with LOTS more new goodies coming next week just in time for The Sassy Sisters Car Show on Sunday, September 27th!

It's starting to look like Fall at The Sassy Sisters !!!! Y'all know I am so ready for my favorite season, and that includes seeing my favorite local gift shop (and host store) all dressed up for it!!! We even started putting all of our seasonal goodies out too!!! Come on by and check out all the new stuff!

Y’all… this is ONLY SOME of the peppers we picked when we got home from our trip! We are officially drowning in peppers, so the next few days will be spent turning these beauties into as much jelly and pickled goodness as I can before I have to freeze them! Today I’m tackling something brand new for us, Tropical Ghost Pepper Jelly! 👻🌶️ Pineapple, papaya, and ghost peppers. This is my first year growing enough ghost peppers to actually use them, and while they are WAY too hot for me, we’ve had so many requests that I had to give it a try! I have a feeling this one is going to be AMAZING!

I’ll also be making Pickled Hot Hungarian Wax Peppers, Apricot Habanero Pepper Jelly, Sweet Pepper Jelly, and of course our Jalapeño Party Pepper Jelly! Keep an eye out because we’re hoping to have these and some other favorites back in stock by Sunday inside of The Sassy Sisters, or early next week, just in time for all your favorite ways to enjoy them!

Well y’all, we’ve been a little quiet around here because we’ve been up in Pennsylvania visiting family! ❤️ We had such a fun week getting to see a LIVE elk 🦌, visit an ostrich farm right next door to my in-laws, and our little buddy even got to hold a baby ostrich! He was absolutely in love. 😂 We also stopped at Cabela’s in Hamburg, PA on the way home, which I hadn’t been to in over 20 years, and goodness gracious, that place has changed! The kids were absolutely obsessed with it.

Now we’re back home and jumping right back into farm life, and this week is going to be a busy one! 🍂 I’ve got a bunch of apples from a local Pennsylvania farm that are headed for the crock pot, plus our last peaches of the season, more honeysuckle jelly, old fashioned appme butter, hot party pepper jelly, sweet bell pepper jelly, and a small batch of our garden grown candied jalapeños. Our second crop of pickling cucumbers is finally coming in too, so we’re hoping to squeeze out a few more jars of pickle batches before the season is over. 🥒🍑🌶️🍎

And of course, all those soaps we made a few weeks ago are finally cured and ready to hit the shelves inside of The Sassy Sisters! So it’s back to canning, cooking, curing, labeling, and stocking around here. We’ve got a LOT to get done this week, but I’ll keep y’all posted as things start making their way into the store. Fall on the farm is officially here, and we are busy as ever! 🍂🌾

Y’all completely sold us out the last time we made our Honeysuckle Jelly! 💛

We haven’t been able to make another batch in a while because our honeysuckle just hasn’t had enough blooms. But recently I cut back a good bit of the plant, and lo and behold… we have a whole bunch of new blooms! 🌿🌼

Thankfully, there are enough for me to make one more batch of Honeysuckle Jelly this year! I’m infusing the blossoms today, and tomorrow it’ll be time to turn that beautiful floral infusion into jelly for the shop. 🍯

This will probably be our last batch of the year, although we’ll see if the honeysuckle surprises me with any more blooms. 😉

If you love our Honeysuckle Jelly, make sure you get your hands on a jar soon! We’re hoping to have it in the shop this weekend, along with lots of other new goodies we’re getting ready for fall. 🍂

Y’all, we are SO excited about something new we’ll be offering at Fair Winds Farmstead store space inside of The Sassy Sisters ! 🍎🍂

We have a wonderful lady we buy these from who makes them completely from scratch, and our first batch of end of summer simmering potpourri will be hitting the shop this week! I currently have the Apple Pie one simmering on my stove, and y’all… it has scented my ENTIRE house. It smells exactly like when I’m making apple butter, which might just be the best smell in the whole world. 😂❤️ Apple cinnamon is absolutely top tier for me, especially when it comes to those cozy seasonal scents!

These first three scents are absolutely amazing, and we’ll have them in the shop this week. Then we’ll be bringing in our fall scents early next month, followed by winter scents in the coming months. We’re planning to offer these seasonally so there’s always something new and cozy to simmer!

They’re handmade for us using all natural ingredients, and you can even add things like vanilla if you’d like to customize your simmer. They’re such a simple, natural way to make your whole house smell absolutely incredible. I seriously cannot get enough of these! 🍎🍁✨
