Toledo Thursday Market

Online ordering available through the Toledo Thursday Market!

At Toledo Thursday Market, the health and safety of our customers, vendors, and volunteers is very important to us. As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, we feel it is important to share more about the steps we are taking to keep everyone safe and healthy.

First, I want to let you know that Toledo Thursday Market will remain open. Although we are a super fun place to catch up with your friends every week, we are, first and foremost, a place for local farmers to supply food to the community. As long as grocery stores and restaurants are allowed to stay open, we will be open as well.

That said, I want to assure you that we are monitoring the situation closely and following the advice from public health officials. In addition to continuing to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in our facility, we are offering more options to access our vendors' products while practicing social distancing.

Online shopping is now available. We weren't planning on unveiling it before this summer, so it will be a bit rocky at first as vendors upload their inventory, but toledothursdaymarket.com/market-ordering is now live. Orders must be placed by 11:59pm on Tuesday night for pick-up that Thursday, and we will have some options for delivery to those who are self-quarantining.

We are also discussing ways to temporarily move to a farmstand-style setup, with one person managing sales for several vendors. In this manner, we can continue to have the variety of products our customers are used to finding with fewer person-to-person interactions. So if you peek in and see fewer people than normal, that's by design.

We hear our customers' concerns that they continue to be able to acquire their milk, bread, eggs, and produce from the local sources they know and trust, but we also know that in times of crisis, it's important to adapt. Thanks for supporting us as we work to strike a balance that best serves the greater Toledo community's various needs.

All I Want For Christmas Is A Goat

“When it’s cold outside and the darkness of winter prevails, the Christmas goat invites us all to an emotional moment by the fireplace.” Everyone knows the Festivus music making goat, right? They are very magical, especially in their melody. making.

Apparently there are other Gary the Goats making headlines in the world. And he has a super sweet hat that makes me think our Gary needs some fashion assistance. Competition is fierce in this world to stand out amongst all the other Gary's, apparently.

How Goats Are Helping Reduce Wildfire Risk In Central Washington

Rent a goat for fire protection and land clearing! We'll be talking about using goats for these purposes at the Lewis Co. Transfer Station's new demonstration site this Saturday at 11AM. Gary, Rosie and crew will be there to lend physical munching support. This article is a great way to learn about some of the benefits of using goats to clear (some) invasive weeds and make way for native plants and offer better fire protection in communities.

On one steep hillside, a Central Washington fire district is ditching the hand tools and machinery that firefighters traditionally use to thin overgrown brush. Instead, they’re turning to goats.

Gary made the front page of the local paper! This goat. 🐐❤️ He’s a showboat. He’s got a sweet personality and the stature of a giant. People fall in love with him immediately. This pic is a little off, because Gary is a gentle giant, lead easily on the leash. We offer goat adventures, hiking and backpacking with this guy and he will lay by your side at the campfire. Aw, sweet Gary. This one’s For you, bud. 😍🐐❤️

Using goats for fire suppression and clearing is actually one of the best things a person can do for their property, especially if dry brush and berries are a problem.

Prices reduced on our Herd reduction! Our small intensively managed Alpine, Boer, and Saanen herd has grown beyond our needs and infrastructure, so time to move some of them on to new homes. 5 milking does and 4 doelings (8 weeks old) from a clean proven herd. All does were bottle fed, are friendly, and good milkers or from good milking lines (and haven't been freshened yet), and dehorned. Doelings have horns.

Cherry: 4 year old Alpine doe. REDUCED $300 Threw triplets this year; two of which are for sale. Black and white in pics with full udders and bright orange collar.

Franny (Fringe): 3 year old Alpine doe, very friendly. REDUCED $250 sturdy, good milker. Blue collar.

Stirling: 2 year old Alpine/Kiko mix. Sturdy bodies - we think she will throw great meat/milk babies. Great silver moon spot markings. $450 Bright green collar.

Peaches: 1 year old all white Alpine/Saanen mix. Great personality and super friendly. $200 cloth orange collar. She is the daughter of our best milker, so we have great expectations for this girl's dairy ability.

Penelope (Penny): 1 year old Alpine/Saanen mix. Black with white stripe down back and a few white markings. Super sweet girl. REDUCED $175

Doelings: 8 week old Alpine/Boer mix. One was partial bottle-raised, so pretty friendly. All rest dam raised. Good lookers and have horns. $135 each, discounts for multiples. REDUCED to $120 each

Discounts for multiple purchases. Loving homes only.

We raise our goats lovingly and naturally- we use herbal wormer and minerals, no antibiotics. Some of them are used for dairy, companions, pack goats, and meat. Goats are herd animals so must have a companion. Happy to help new owners with info. We believe our goats are our friends and treat them with love and respect. We want the best matches between goats and owners and will work with you to make right choices for all involved. We are a CAE/CL free, closed herd.

We have managed our small herd for 7 years and are only reducing herd to make our lives, herd health, and infrastructure more manageable.
