Winsted's Food Week is an extension of National Food Day, occurring October 24th across the United States. Food Day is now on its third year and is a broad national grassroots campaign, supported by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, with five goals:

1. Support sustainable and organic farms
3. Reform factory farms to protect the environment and animals
5. Support fair working conditi

ons for food and farm workers

In Winsted we will extend the Food Day activities from August 6th through August 24th in a continued effort to educate and promote healthier eating in our community. Winsted Food Week is currently in its second year. This event is presented by The Shafeek Nader Trust. Winsted Food Week Schedule of Events

Tuesday, August 6: Film screening of Food Fight at the Winsted Town Hall's Blue Room at 7pm

Wednesday, August 7: Story time, snacks and activities at the Beardsley and Memorial Library at 10:45am

Thursday, August 8: Dorothea DiCecco's lecture on garlic at the Winsted Town Hall's Blue Room at 7pm

Wednesday, August 14: A food demonstration from Theresa Cannavo at the Winsted Senior Center at 2pm

Thursday, August 15: A food demonstration from Theresa Cannavo at the Health Food Corner at 7pm

Saturday, August 24: A Community Potluck Dinner at the Open Door Soup Kitchen at 1pm

Every Friday this summer, find us at the Winsted Farmer's Market in East End Park from 3pm to 6pm
