Juan Puerta everybody!

We first met Juan back in May of last year after having the chance to roast a couple of his coffees and we have been hooked ever since. Since then, we’ve always kept our eyes peeled for new releases from Juan alongside Frank and the team at Yellow Rooster.

Fun fact: None of these photos are mine (except the last one), but they give a small glimpse into the amount of care, craftsmanship, and dedication Juan pours into every single lot.

We’re beyond excited to share that we have two of Juan’s coffees dropping over the next few weeks (with the first one landing THIS WEEK 👀).

Up first is a beautiful washed coffee with delicate notes of sweet orange and citrus. It’s elegant, clean, and exactly the kind of coffee that reminds us why we love what we do.

Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Passionfruit & Bubblegum 🍓✨

Grown at 1,800 meters in the mountains of Huila, this lot comes from La Piragua—a family-run farm led by Arley Vargas alongside his father, Alexander. More than just a farm, La Piragua serves as a central processing hub for neighboring producers, supporting the local coffee community. Women play a key role in hand-selecting cherries, making this coffee an important source of livelihood in the region.

In the cup, expect a juicy, fruit-driven profile bursting with strawberry, passionfruit, and bubblegum. The anaerobic natural process brings out intense sweetness and aromatics, delivering a candy-like vibrancy with a plush mouthfeel and a clean, expressive finish. Thoughtful fermentation and meticulous processing create a cup that’s both bold and beautifully balanced.

45 day recap/35th JBR opens! 🥯☕️

It’s been a wild start to 2026. Between conferences, new store openings and keeping production moving at The Nest, things haven’t slowed down for us to take a breath.

I’m having yet another moment of gratitude for this wild ride we have been on. With 15+ more JBR openings ahead this year, we’re pushing toward 50 stores by the end of 2026. Remember that just over 2 years ago we were sitting at TWO.

Through all the growth, the focus remains the same for us at The Nest — protecting the Otus standard in every bag.

NECTAR — Caturra Floral | Cauca, Colombia🍯💐
A honey-forward Caturra with notes of mandarin, caramel, and soft florals. This semi-washed, double-fermented lot delivers bright aromatics, clean sweetness, and a smooth, syrupy body. Grown at 1,750 m by Andrés Martínez, a producer with a scientific background in fermentation and processing, NECTAR is a modern Colombian profile designed for clarity, balance, and versatility across filter and espresso.

FIRST BEAN DROP of 2026☕️☕️

We have two coffees dropping next week(1/21) and we’re pumped for them!

GOLDEN - A natural Caturra from La Piragua in Huila, Colombia produced by the Vargas family. This coffee showcases bright lemon and honey sweetness with notes of apricot and berry. Rooted in community, sustainability, and careful processing, this coffee reflects both tradition and innovation. Where are my adventurous coffee drinkers at?!🍯🍋🫐🍓

EL DULCE - A timeless washed coffee sourced by that is clean and sweet. We have sourced this coffee many times over the past few years and it’s always a hit. A fantastic drip coffee for those who enjoy the lighter side of roast profiles🍎🍦

A little nostalgia, with a whole lot of optimism ☕️🥯

Huge thanks to everyone who’s been part of this coffee & bagel journey. In 2025 alone, we watched 14 Jeff’s Bagel Run shops open, all proudly serving Otus Coffee. To think we’re now at 25 shops across 6 states, serving bagels and coffee that started on one street in Winter Garden, FL.. it’s a feeling that never gets old.

Grateful for how far we’ve come, fired up for what’s next! Happy New Year!!🎉

Last week was one of those pinch-me moments.

We had the entire Jeff’s Bagel Run crew at The Nest — corporate team, new franchisees, OGs, operators, and straight-up bagel & coffee fans. The discussion was centered around where we’ve been, what we’re seeing in stores, and where this thing is headed. It made it all feel very real… and very BIG.

Crazy to think:
🏡 5 years ago → Jeff and I were just neighbors with a side hustle
☕ 2 years ago → just 2 JBR locations in Orlando

Fast forward to today and there are now 25 Jeff’s Bagel Run locations(😳), all proudly serving Otus Coffee — and that number is set to double by next summer. Keeping the Otus Standard as we scale is the challenge that fires us up every day here at The Nest.

Like we always say .perera … this journey is just getting started🥯☕🔥
