My brother, a friend(Tony) and I decided to throw our hat into the Kings of Q BBQ Cook off King of Q contest and compete for BBQ supremacy. Our results were not the best but we had a blast doing it! Congratulations to Billy John Narron and Optimus Swine 757 on their respective wins and to Muttley Crue and Showtime Legit BBQ for the top prize! I hope to see Shannon Phares Turner’s name on the big trophy in the Ayden BBQ museum. Thank you again to all the organizers and volunteers from Town of Ayden, NC for a great thyme as always! Looking forward to next year.

Meredith and I took the short trip to LaGrange for a local SCA competition. Meredith took 8th in grilled cheese and I poisoned at least one judge on Steak A but Steak B we really improved for a 11th place tie. Congratulations to my fellow Hasty Bake Ranger competitor on his first place steak, David Murray. What a great thyme, onto the next one!!

Day 2 and a double in Johnson City TN Masonic Lodge Steak Cookoff. We managed a 9th place in a stacked field of great steak cookers. Steak A did not fair too well and not worth mentioning. Lol. And most importantly a great weekend with my girls!

Today we took a 6 hour drive west to Church Hill, TN for The Clay Lodge SCA event and for Meredith’s first ever Kids Q event in hamburger. We both thought our entries were subpar BUT I guess the judges thought differently. We both got 2nd place!! I am so excited for her and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. !
