Hello, friends and neighbors! โค๏ธ
I come to you today with some sad news.
Many of you may have noticed that I haven't announced the next recipient for my monthly Free Birthday Cake Project, and unfortunately, that wasn't an oversight.
My page was reported last month for allegedly running an illegal lottery because of the monthly birthday cake giveaway. As a result, my page was temporarily restricted, and for a period of time I was unable to receive messages, comment, or post.
I did appeal the restriction, but the process took time - and unfortunately, enough time that I wasn't able to properly run and announce the next month's giveaway.
After a lot of thought, I've made the difficult decision to discontinue the monthly Free Birthday Cake Project.
I am genuinely heartbroken about this. The giveaway did not makemoney, there were no costs to entries, and I didnt receive anything in return. It was simply something I wanted to do each month to give a local child a little extra reason to smile on their birthday. Seeing the excitement from our winners and their families has been one of my absolute favorite parts of running The Village Baker. ๐โค๏ธ
But as a small home bakery that relies heavily on this page to communicate with customers, I simply can't risk having the page repeatedly restricted - or potentially losing it altogether if future reports or appeals don't go in my favor.
To everyone who nominated a child, shared the posts, celebrated our winners, or simply cheered this little project on: thank you. I loved getting to do this for our community, even if it didn't get to last nearly as long as I had hoped.
I'm incredibly disappointed that it has to end this way, but protecting The Village Baker and my ability to continue serving all of you has to come first.
Thank you, as always, for supporting my tiny bakery and the little ways I've tried to give back to the community that supports me. โค๏ธ
