Here are part of the most recent aquasitions to the Museums holdings. They are 2 early frameless box hives from Maine. Both are missing the second story honey box/super. The 2 holes in the top of each box were to allow the bees to move up into the second story. These holes also acted as a queen excluder to keep the queen from laying in the honey box. This method became common in many different hive styles. I am waiting for more information about the history of these hives.

I decided to keep some Pumpkin Blossom Honey separate, so people could try something new. I had my guys keep 4 or 5 drums of it. I just ran the first drum into buckets to sell and bottle a little. Let me know if you are interested in acquiring some.

Last night was another late night moving bees. These are here in one of my largest pumpkin pollination contracts of 4 different locations totaling 431 acres. I pollinate with full size hives and not smaller pollination units for several reasons. The main 2 are that I can charge more with less time and money invested in each hive and to make a bigger honey crop. The advantage for the grower is these single full size colonies will pollinate better than if I took them and made 4 smaller pollination units out of each hive. My growers have all noticed that they are getting dramatically better pollination with less than half the number of colonies. Ok so it's time for us to have the pumpkin plant reproduction talk. If you didn't know pumpkins have male and female flowers which means pollen from the male stamen (or anther)of the flower needs to be moved to the sticky stigma of the female blossom. This is how the o***y of the female flower develops into a baby pumpkin. The goal of the plant is to produce a pumpkin which contains viable seeds that can go into the ground and produce more pumpkin plants just like itself. This is why plants produce fruits, vegetables and nuts.

I will be in Columbus tomorrow making a bunch of Basswood Honey deliveries for my charity fundraiser. If you want to purchase some give me a call or text. 330-466-7162.
I will also have some other single floral source honeys with me.
Raspberry Blossom
Buckwheat
Wildflower
Clover
I am guessing i will be in Columbus by 1:30 and won't be heading home until later in the evening.
I will have assorted sizes

It's time to bucket up some drums of Basswood/Linden tree honey. It's so tasty good. The Honey tested out to be a 29mm white falls in the white color range. This is a very unique tasting honey which is one of my favorites. I am donating the proceeds from this drum (11 - 5 gallon buckets) to several groups I support who are fighting against human trafficking. I will sell this in any size container from 2oz to 5gal. Please contact me if you are interested in acquiring some of this fresh squeezed, wonderful tasting honey. This one you won't find at the store. Thanks everyone for supporting me and my passion.
