Hardwork pays off 💪. From empty to nearly full in a few months. Our goat girls are putting in the work turning grass to nutrient dense milk. We currently have 3 goats in milk. 1 first freshener who is still nursing her doeling. And a 2nd and 3rd freshener. We are getting enough milk for our family to drink fresh, freeze for later and share a bit too.
Having a milking animal isn't easy, but the reward us BIG.

Meat chicken 2024 is underway. If you were trying to count how many little guys there are the answer is 99. What started as 75 grew just a tiny bit more. In the end this will feed 2 families freezers. We had a great year last year with minimal loss. Hoping for another great year with good grow weights and happy healthy chickens who spend the majority of their life on grass helping fertilize and improving the soil in our pasture.

We cleaned out the buck pen yesterday and Allan was so happy to be the recipient of extra loves and snuggles. I am looking forward to the warm weather so these boys can get a much needed hair cut and bath.

A big pot of 'witches brew' as the kiddos call it. 2024 meat birds will be here next week so time to clean up the freezers in preparation. Making nutrient dense broth really helps further what each bird can do to feed our family.

Sweet little dude and his 2 tiny herdmates are still looking for new pastures just after Christmas.

These babies come from a healthy, clean tested heard(2023).
They have been disbudded.
They will have coccci preventative
Boys whethered.
Started on hay.
Doeling will come ADGA registration and would make a great milker or 4h project.

I am so passionate about raising healthy animals that are parasite resistant. These dam raised babies are friendly and love affection.

Continuing on with our goat introductions here is Pumpkin, this is Pipers keeper doeling out of Trish.
Pumpkins favorite pass time? Wait for someone to bend down unsuspecting and jump on their back.
She is a petite girl just like her momma but full of energy (like her human mom)

Remember when I said that I wasnt keeping the doeling out Wilma... I don't 🤣

Introducing Dotty formally known as Elsa. Elsa was a cute name but since I decided to keep her I needed something more.. me. Dotty is a throwback to one of my favorite 🎥 A League of Their Own.

And because I changed her name I had to change her brother Sven to Dotty's co-star ⭐ Jimmy Dugan 🤣.

Dotty is the typical Bottle baby affectionate, sweet, needy and LOUD! We are in the process of weaning and my neighbors may get a complimentary set of ear plugs.

All that to say welcome to the herd Miss Dotty.

Always a good feeling when the f***l counts come back and your goats continue to carry low parasite loads 🙌

Did you know that it is normal and okay for goats to carry parasites? Their bodies are capable of handling certain "loads" when those loads get overwhelmed is when treatment becomes necessary.
Parasites are continually growing and adapting to conventional wormers by not routinely worming and conducting preventive checks and f***l test we can make sure that our goats stay healthy without unnecessary treatments. Big thank you to MeadowMist Lab Service for always providing quick service with detailed reports.

Sweet Lily is the doeling one of our foundation does Betty. Betty is such a wonderful mom. She is also a great milk producer. Just recently milked 4.4 pounds on a 1 day milk test.

Our 2022 kidding season is officially over.

Our last doe to kid Wilma was due on Friday 11/25. After 4 sleepless nights waiting for her to go into labor she finally showed early labor signs Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon after a short period of no progress I decided it was time to assist. A baby was coming but she needed some stronger productive pushes. When he made it just about earthside I checked to make sure he was in the correct presentation and decided to help momma out as she was getting tired, 2 big contractions and pulls and we welcomed a HUGE buckling at 5lbs! Momma Wilma was doing a wonderful job cleaning and tending when baby number 2 was coming, again a big baby and a tired momma so I help slightly. A big 4.7lb doeling.

This kidding although not easy was such a sigh of relief, Wilma is doing a beautiful job as a first time mom to live kids ( her first kidding resulted in 2 DOA)

Officially introducing our final kids Elsa and Sven for our 2022 kidding season bringing us to 4 bucklings and 3 doelings.

Super sweet 8 week old (soon to be) whether looking for a new place to call home. He needs to go to a home with goats (preferably ones near or around his age) or I have some kids who will be born any minute he can wait and head home with one or more 😉of them.
Ghost would make a beautiful 4h goat. He has been handled daily by his current human owner (age 6) and is such a playful snuggly boy.
