Carl & Maryanna (Sally) Kizer started the business after running an air conditioning business for 10 years, and a solar water heating business for a few more years. Though they were each successful in their own right, there was something that each of them lacked. One of the air conditioners that we sold used water to help cool the refrigerant in turn cooling the home, and the evaporative coolers used water to cool the pads. In the solar water heater panels, water ran through the copper coils to heat the water going into the water heater. In each of these cases, the water eventually started to build-up calcium & magnesium on the A/C copper tubing, cooler pads and water heating tubing and elements which in turn reduced the flow of water and the efficiency of the systems. Hence, the water treatment business was born. We realized how bad the water was in the Yuma area so we started C&M Water Systems in April of 1984 mainly to eliminate the hardness (calcium and magnesium) from the water, having a reverse osmosis system in people's homes was an extra benefit to them. Now they had soft water that reduced the use of soap products by half and then they greatly reduced the cost of the maintenance and replacement of their water use appliances. Now they also had pure drinking water at their own kitchen sink which eliminated carrying those heavy bottles. Why do the carrying when you can just go to the sink and turn on the RO faucet to get a glass of pure drinking water. You may have seen reports about elevated Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs) in municipal drinking water. What does this mean, and can your Reverse Osmosis (RO) system help?

Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs) are chemical by-products that can form when chlorine or other disinfectants used to make our drinking water safe react with naturally occurring organic matter in the water. Water systems monitor these levels to ensure they meet EPA standards.

The good news: If you have a Reverse Osmosis drinking water system, you're already taking an important step toward improving your drinking water. A properly maintained RO system, especially when paired with activated carbon pre-filters, is designed to significantly reduce many contaminants, including TTHMs and other disinfection by-products.

To keep your RO system performing at its best:
💧 Replace your filters and membrane on schedule.
💧 Have your system serviced regularly.
💧 If it's been a while since your last maintenance, we're happy to help.
