We are missing a little member of the farm since the storm went through.

Our barn kitty wasn’t around Friday (not unusual for her) so we couldn’t put her in the house with her barn mate Ollie.

We haven’t seen her since the storm which is unusual. She’s stays outside primarily but won’t miss a chance to dart inside when the kids open the door for a nap on the bed or cuddles.

Her name is Thea or Fluffy, depending on who you ask. I call her Fluff a Nutter.

We are praying our sweet girl is ok and makes her way back home.

We are fine and all our animals are good.

We spent the night at my in laws as Stephen stays at work during storms for his job. So we didn’t get back to farm until early this morning. I was holding my breath driving home, seeing all the damage along the way, not knowing what things looked like here.

And overwhelming amount of work needs to be done. We have quite a few downed trees. We lost a few shelters.

But we are incredibly thankful. It could have been worse. It was for many.

Today we work and cleanup and help our neighbors do the same.

What a gorgeous evening at The Market of Milton. You all absolutely showed up tonight and bought us out of milk, cream, butter and eggs!

This has been the calm my heart needed. Adding a hurricane on top of an already busy week wasn’t on our list of things to do.

But seeing our customers show up and getting to chat with you all has been refreshing.

As this storm approaches in the next 48 hours, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We are truly so thankful for you all. ❤️

In the midst of the stress of preparing the farm for this hurricane, I’m so glad for a bit of normal tonight at The Market of Milton.

It is on!! And we will be there stocked up with milk, cream and butter.

Our Maple Pumpkin Granola is stocked as well as the Spicy Dill Pickles which we can’t keep on the shelf!

If you need a few minutes of calm before the storm stop by to say hi!!

We have been busy preparing for the storm headed our way.

We are almost directly in the path, not necessarily a bad place to be. But if we have learned anything from storms along the Gulf Coast in our last 26 years of living here, anything can happen.

We are not only preparing for our own safety but that of all our animals as well. We have stocked up on extra supplies and feed. Finding gas for generators was a feat, but those are ready as we fully believe we will be without power.

Keep the Gulf Coast in your prayers.

We start them early around here. 😊

There is something special about watching our children learn this life early on.

So many of the skills and know-how that we have now, we learned in our 40s…

But our kids get to grow up in it.

They get to learn responsibility while they’re little. They get to see that hard work is rewarding, that animals depend on us, that not everything comes easy, and that sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty and figure it out.

We do a lot of figuring things out around here. 😊

Maybe they’ll grow up and choose a completely different path. Maybe farming or homesteading won’t be their thing—and that’s okay.

Because what we’re really giving them isn’t just knowledge of farming. We’re giving them confidence and a sense of belonging and skills that go far beyond Seven Arrows Farm.

Confidence to try something new.
A solid work ethic.
The integrity to care for something beyond themselves.
Confidence to solve problems when things don’t go as planned.
Stick-to-it-ness to tackle whatever life puts in front of them.

We may have started learning this later in life, but our children get the gift of learning it from the very beginning.

And if one day they choose a different road, they’ll take all of these lessons—and the confidence they built here—with them. ❤️

She is finding her legs today. ❤️

Little baby is a GIRL and we are thrilled.

While she will find a new home in the spring, little girl still needs a name.

There are no shortage of suggestions from the nine people here 😃 give us some of yours.

Miss Mable keeping us on our toes shouldn’t be a surprise at all.

When we found her this morning with her new calf, she looked a bit beat up. Lacerations on her ear, chest and a deep gash on her leg. We cleaned and bandaged her up but she’s going to need some stitches.

Poor girl is headed now to the vet.

We’ve walked the property and haven’t found anything we think could have caused her cuts. A little stumped there…

Send some prayers for our ornery girl.
