CRABBS Dive Club

A sad day, divers,

Originally established in 1991, the Caribbean Reef Association of Bubble Blowers (CRABBS) was founded to promote diver and environmental awareness and to promote recreational scuba diving in and around St Croix.

I deeply regret having to tell you that, after 36 years, CRABBS dive club is no longer viable and will wrap up its affairs. This is a difficult decision to make, but declining membership, declining attendance at club events, and lack of interest in club leadership positions make it inevitable. The 2025 CRABBSMAS party was our last event.
We will not be accepting dues for 2026.

In the upcoming year, Cecile and I will review options to distribute remaining club assets to deserving organizations that support our purpose.

Please continue your support to the dive community and promote our unique and wonderful dive environment on St Croix. Thank you for all your support and we will see you under the surface! Remember: Take only pictures, leave only bubbles.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the CRABBSMAS season. The White Elephant gift exchange was great fun!

We had a great time at the Beach Bar at Hotel on the Cay. Once again, Rolling Smoke provided an excellent buffet!

As you can see...the forecast is not supporting our Halloween Costume Dive this morning. So...we will postpone the dive until next week.

Please meet us at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 18th at the FREDERIKSTED PIER. (Note the changed venue - no cruise ship on the 18th)

Come in costume...or not. We'll bring a grill / hamburgers / vegan bratwurst and some chips.

Good day Divers!

As you recall, we are forgoing our normal second Tuesday dinner meeting for October. Instead, we will be meeting next Saturday, October 11th at 10:00 am for a Halloween Costume dive at Cane Bay.

Come in Costume - and we'll celebrate the season at one of our iconic St Croix dive sites!

Cecile and I will bring a grill and some hamburgers and hot dogs....feel free to bring sides, chips, etc.

Good Day Divers!

Thanks to all who attended our September meeting earlier this week. We took the time to review the upcoming months activities.

October: In lieu of a regular meeting, CRABBS will be hosting a Halloween Costume Dive at Cane Bay on Saturday, October 11th, at 10:00 am. (The Pier is not available, as there is a cruise ship in port.) Please come by - with your costume - and we'll enjoy one of our St Croix signature dive sites. (Note - while we won't be hosting a pumpkin carving contest, feel free to bring a pumpkin and carve it during your dive!)

November: Our normal "second Tuesday" will be November 11th at 6:30 pm. Venue is TBD until confirmed. We'll have Trivia v2 - with topics related to St Croix and SCUBA trivia.

December: Please join us on December 9th at 6:00 pm for our annual CRABBSmas Party and White Elephant Gift Exchange. We are finalizing the venue and cost - more to follow. Be on the lookout for that perfect CRABBS gift now!! (target cost is $25+/-)

CRABBS Board

Good afternoon,

I am looking for support to establish a new dive wreck, hopefully in the vicinity of Christiansted as opposed to the West End. I’d like to gauge the interest of crabs members. The wreck would be 50’ in length, fully swimable, and preferably upright in 35-60’ of water. It would require considerable healing obtaining permits, getting appropriately sanitized, and help funding the permitting, sanitizing, and towing into position.

The idea is to have a wreck easily accessible from the east end of the island.

Do you think this would be of interest to the diving community? If so, do you think there would be members who would be willing to help pursue the required approvals from CZM, Corps of Engineers, etc.?
