When families arrive in Hoi An, there’s often a lot of excitement.

New place.
New opportunities.

A sense of wanting to make the most of it.

Over the years, we’ve noticed a few patterns.

Not mistakes in a negative sense, just things many of us didn’t fully understand at the beginning.

Things like trying to do too much too quickly.

Choosing locations based on aesthetics rather than daily life.

Underestimating the impact of heat and energy.

And assuming community will just fall into place.

What tends to work better over time is something much simpler.

Slower rhythms
Familiar places
Repeat experiences
And spaces where children can settle and return

That’s exactly what we’ve built Tay Tai around, and it’s also what we’ve been putting into the guide we’re finishing.

And for those who’ve already registered interest - thank you for your patience while we’ve been putting this together!

It’s taken time because we wanted it to reflect real, lived experience - not just a list of places.

Launching in April!

If you’d like early access, comment GUIDE and we’ll add you to the list 😊

Sometimes the best way to understand a community is through the people who experience it.

Over the past year we’ve received many messages from families who have joined Tay Tai - some staying in Hoi An for just a few weeks, others for several months.

What they often mention isn’t a single activity.

It’s the combination of things that slowly begins to work together.

A weekly rhythm that children can rely on.

Access to books and shared learning resources.

Hands-on activities where kids experiment and create.

A community where parents and children feel comfortable returning each week.

For travelling families, that sense of continuity can make a big difference.

Tay Tai was created to offer exactly that.

A place where families can find community, consistency and meaningful learning experiences while they’re in Hoi An.

Tay Tai has evolved a lot over the past year.

What began as a handful of families meeting up has slowly grown into a weekly rhythm of activities, friendships and learning experiences for children and parents in Hoi An.

As that rhythm has grown, one thing has become clear...

Communities need structure if they’re going to last.

Free groups are easy to start, but they often drift.

People come and go, plans change, energy fades.

What we’ve been building with Tay Tai is something a little different - a community where families can rely on consistent activities, familiar faces and opportunities for children to grow together over time.

That’s why we’re moving to a membership model.

Membership allows us to plan properly, coordinate activities more consistently, work with instructors, and keep things predictable for families while protecting the energy of the community itself.

Longer term, it also moves us closer to the bigger vision for Tay Tai - a dedicated activity space where children can explore, create and learn together throughout the year.

At its heart, Tay Tai has always been about the same simple things:
Community.
Consistency.
Learning through real life experiences.

If your family is looking for that kind of rhythm in Hoi An, we’d love to hear from you.

And yes - messages while we, the founders, are in Europe are still being answered, just a few hours later than usual.

After nearly a decade living in Hoi An as a family, we realised something.

Most guides are written for visitors.

Very few are written for families actually living here.

Especially homeschooling or worldschooling families.

This guide covers:
– cafés that work for real learning days
– realistic long-stay accommodation advice
– visa rhythms families actually use
– quiet reset spaces
– energy management with children
– and where community genuinely forms

Not hype.
Not attractions.

Just what actually works over time.
