🎗 Vietnamese passion fruit is about to be granted a "Visa" to the US.

🌈 The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam has just reached an important agreement with the US Department of Agriculture to bring another fresh fruit from Vietnam to the US market: passion fruit. At the same time, diversifying quarantine forms to reduce costs and increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese fruits in the US market.

🔥 Up to now, 8 types of fresh fruit from Vietnam have been exported to the US, including dragon fruit, mango, longan, lychee, rambutan, star apple, grapefruit and coconut. The total export turnover of fruits and vegetables in the first 6 months of this year to the US reached nearly 150 million USD, an increase of 32.4% over the same period last year.

📍 In addition to increasing the variety of fruits exported to each other's markets, the two sides also discussed ways to diversify the form of plant quarantine, in order to facilitate, cut costs, and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese fresh fruits in the market of more than 300 million people.

💡 Forecast of dragon fruit export situation in the last three months of 2024.

🔎 Although the quantity of Vietnamese dragon fruit exported to the European and Indian markets is not much, Vietnamese dragon fruit is currently gaining more and more advantages as consumers in other countries increasingly prefer Vietnamese products.

🌈 Many forecasts show that the export turnover in the second half of the year will increase further. Currently, this year's dragon fruit crop on the market is more uniform in size than previous years and has moderate weight, so it is suitable for the needs of Western countries.

⚡ Along with that, Vietnam's main export market, China, is also looking for and starting to import again at the end of this year. To prepare dragon fruit due to increased domestic demand due to the Mid-Autumn Festival.

☀ Meanwhile, Mr. Dang P**c Nguyen - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that this year the world was affected by El Nino, so the output of dragon fruit sold globally plummeted. Vietnamese dragon fruit increases exports to Germany, UK, US

In the first 4 months of 2024, Vietnamese dragon fruit exports to the US, UK, and Germany markets increased by 100-266% compared to the same period last year.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, in the first 4 months of 2024, Vietnam's dragon fruit exports reached 230 million USD, down 7.5% compared to the same period in 2023. This also caused the proportion of dragon fruit in the fruit export basket to decrease by 40% compared to the same period last year.

The reason for the decrease in Vietnamese dragon fruit exports is that China, the main export market, continued to decline in the first 4 months of the year and only reached 162 million USD, down 19.3% compared to the same period last year. In addition, the two markets of Hong Kong and Japan also reduced imports of dragon fruit from Vietnam, estimated to decrease by 0.6-7.5%.

However, while the East Asian market reduced imports of dragon fruit from Vietnam, Vietnamese dragon fruit exports to the US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, and India unexpectedly increased sharply. Of which, exports to Germany and the UK increased the most, 2.3-2.7 times compared to the same period last year, reaching 786,000 USD to Germany, and more than 1 million USD to the UK market. As for the US, dragon fruit exports increased by over 102% with 13 million USD, while India increased by 33% with 16.5 million USD.
