Raya, our very first LGD! Anatolian x Great Pyr. She is perfect! I am so thrilled with her. When searching for a good LGD, I knew I wanted an Anatolian or at least a mix as they aren’t as barky as great pyrs. I also wanted one that had working parents, was already being trained on stock, and had stayed with their parents for a minimum of 10 weeks. I would highly recommend Rotating Acres in Columbia, KY for an LGD! Raya will be with the goats full time eventually, after we make sure it’s safe to do so. We are making sure Minnie is fully electric fence trained before putting them back on the farm.

No photo editing! This is real! Cayuga ducks lay dark charcoal to a light tinted green. They are pretty cool! Not to mention they’re stark black with a green sheen, so beautiful to look at ☺️🖤

I can’t even begin to tell y’all how excited it makes me to have our own fresh milk here at home! Owning dairy goats always seemed so intimidating but wow, I can’t believe we didn’t add this aspect to the homestead sooner. Aspen is so special 🖤

Aspen is our new Nigerian Dwarf doe, currently in milk and already settling beautifully into life here. For a farm so rooted in thoughtful food and intentional living, bringing fresh dairy into our daily rhythm feels especially exciting! Fresh milk, cream, cultured butter, and all the possibilities that come with having fresh milk excites me!
Healing Meadows farm in Campbellsville was absolutely wonderful to work with from beginning to end- exactly the kind of farm experience you hope for when adding an animal you plan to build around.
Aspen is due in July, so now we wait and cross our fingers for doeling twins for my very first kidding! Until then, she is being thoroughly admired by everyone here (especially Esther Grace) and has already made herself impossible not to love. We will be moving her to pasture soon once she gets used to us/trusts us- we are still in stranger danger zone!

Today is a “laying the groundwork” kind of farm days: moving fence row, getting the greenhouse ready to be tilled tomorrow, throwing out cover, and gearing up for soil testing next week. I’m also picking up tomato hooks for the greenhouse, which means the real growing season work is officially about to begin! How exciting!

As much as I dislike tilling/disrupting soil, there are moments like this when the season requires a certain level of logic. For years, we have prioritized no-till methods wherever possible, dedicated to protecting soil structure, encouraging biological life, and building healthier ground over time. Inside a large greenhouse, this close to planting season, ideal methods and real timelines do not always align. When space has to be turned quickly and conditions need to be workable immediately, adaptation becomes part of stewardship too.
Soon this space will be full of growth but for now it is still in the stage that most people never see… labor, planning, and the quiet work that comes before abundance.

Raised Wild Farm (previously Caskeys Raised Wild Microfarm) is owned & operated by the Caskey Family in Nancy, Ky.

We manage the Facebook group Support KY Farmers and frequently travel across Kentucky to visit and support other farms. Here on Instagram, we share curated glimpses of our life in agriculture, from sustainable practices to happy animals and farm-to-table moments.

Our KY proud, PSA-certified, microfarm thrives on less than an acre using permaculture, no-till practices, and a 73’ greenhouse.

We grow fresh produce and microgreens while raising happy animals: bees for honey and nucs, chickens and ducks (meat, eggs, stock) and silver fox rabbits (meat and broodstock). We like to focus on heirloom produce as well.

Our specialty poultry are fed organic soy/corn/porcine free feed…crafted for discerning palates and those with sensitivities. Here you will also find Kentucky food showcased, and hope you find a recipe that challenges you to expand your palette!

We are hoping to raise sheep and cattle in the future when we move. Thank you for supporting your local Ky farm 🌱🖤

Our beautiful Navi has just spent the week with Loki of Red Feather Farms, and we may have puppies on the way here in Somerset, KY! Pregnancy confirmation is scheduled for the first week of December, and we’re so excited to share the journey with you.

•Both Navi and Loki are fully health tested
•Navi OFA: Good
•DM: Navi is a recessive carrier and Loki is clear, so no puppies will be affected. Each puppy will be health tested prior to going to their new homes.
•AKC Registerable
•Both parents have exceptional temperaments and are beloved companions who go everywhere with their families.

We are a very small, ethical breeder, with only two females who are first and foremost our pets.

We waited until Navi turned four to breed her and only plan 2–4 thoughtfully planned litters per year between our girls.

Navi is a taller, stunning Aussie with a loyal personality we couldn’t be prouder of her! She is textbook Aussie.

If you’re looking for a health-tested, ethically bred Australian Shepherd, we’d love for you to follow along as we (hopefully!) prepare to welcome some incredible pups soon.
