Yay! Flowers are starting to bloom—slowly but surely. I won’t have enough for subscriptions anytime soon, but if you’d like an arrangement, it won’t be much longer now! Also, I’m hoping to offer a limited number of shorter (3-week) subscriptions later this summer. 🤞💐

The flowers are loving all the rain lately but, sadly, the deer are loving the flowers.

Despite my best efforts, deer pressure has become a significant challenge this season, with blooms and plants getting completely mowed down throughout the garden.

Besides making a sizable dent in my tulips this spring, they’ve eaten my ranunculus and anemones, hostas, sunflowers, phlox, roses, and some hydrangeas. I’ve *still* got zinnias, snapdragons, and some other sun-loving annuals growing but it will be a while before they’re blooming. Plus, I’m not 100% confident that the deer won’t give them a try. 🤞🏻

In light of this, I’m going to continue to hold-off on offering summer flower subscriptions until I can be confident that I’ll have the abundance and quality of blooms that I need to make multiple arrangements for subscribers.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of local flowers. 🌸🦌💐

Tips for Caring for Your Tulips 💛

I loved seeing the subscription flowers out on my porch this morning! Thank you to everyone who purchased a tulip subscription or ordered tulips this past week! I thought I’d share some tips on caring for them so you get the best vase life. There are also care tips on the back of the tag on your flowers.

🌷 If you opted for a wrapped bunch of tulips, you’ll want to trim your tulip stems to the appropriate length for the vase they’re going into. Be sure to remove any foliage below the water line. If you opted for a mason jar, there’s no need to trim your tulips at this time.

🌷 Tulips continue to grow in the vase. You may want to trim the stems after a couple of days.

🌷 Be sure to keep the water that your tulips are in clean, change the water out every other day. Cold water is best.

🌷 Avoid placing your tulips (or any fresh flowers) in direct sunlight. A warm, sunny window will cause them to mature faster; reducing their vase life.

🌷 Don’t place your flowers right next to ripening fruit such as apples, pears, and bananas. Fruit gives off ethylene gas, which regulates the ripening/aging of the fruit and also flowers. We don’t want your flowers to prematurely fade.

Thanks again for supporting locally grown flowers!
