I’m incredibly grateful to have completed Phase 3 of the UNITAR–BADEA Coaching and Mentorship Programme. This journey has been more than just training—it has been a powerful experience in enhancing learning, strengthening knowledge transfer, and driving sustainable development outcomes for women and youth in agribusiness.
What stands out for me is how practical and transformative the programme has been. I didn’t just learn—I implemented.
During Phase 2 in 2024, which focused on climate change, one of our key assignments challenged us to adopt measures to protect and strengthen our businesses. That challenge led us to build a weir on our farm. Today, that investment is making a real difference: we now have a reliable water source for irrigating pastures, providing drinking water for our animals, and supporting our next big step—launching a fish farming project that will benefit both our workers and the wider community.
Phase 3 has only deepened this impact, equipping me with the tools and mindset to continue building a climate-resilient and sustainable agribusiness.
To UNITAR–BADEA, thank you for believing in women and youth, and for creating platforms that turn knowledge into action. Your support is not just changing businesses—it’s transforming livelihoods and communities.
A special thank you to the UNITAR–BADEA Zimbabwe training team for your guidance, encouragement, and hands-on support throughout the programme. Your dedication made this journey even more meaningful.
The journey continues, and I am proud to be part of this movement toward sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture.

My sister had come to visit me over the Easter break, bringing her usual warmth and wisdom. One morning, as we walked through my fields, she stopped and pointed at a patch of what I had always called weeds.
“Not all weeds are useless,” she said. “Let me show you how to pick healthy blackjack (Mutsine) for relish.”
I laughed—but watched closely as she chose the young, tender leaves and explained how to identify the best ones. Back in the kitchen, she cooked them with onions, tomatoes, and a touch of peanut butter. The smell was inviting, and the taste surprised me—rich, earthy, and nourishing.
As we ate, she shared its benefits—how blackjack is packed with nutrients and has long been used as both food and medicine. In that moment, I realized I had been throwing away something valuable simply because I didn’t understand it.
That day sparked more than just a new meal—it sparked an idea.
I will be picking blackjack with the women in my community, drying it, and packing it for resale. What we once ignored will now become a source of income and pride.
Now, when I walk through my fields, I don’t just see weeds—I see opportunity growing right at my feet.

Today, I spent the day buying natural tree pods from women and young people in my community — sacks full of what many would normally overlook, but what we now see as opportunity.
Women and young people from nearby villages have been showing up with these pods they collect from the surrounding bush. What used to be left to waste suddenly has value. We use them as part of our dairy feed formulation — a simple, local solution that’s both cost-effective and nutritious for our cows.
But the real story isn’t just about feed.
It’s about income in the hands of women who now have something of their own to contribute. It’s about young people choosing to spend their time productively, knowing they can earn from what’s already around them. It’s about dignity — the quiet pride of bringing something to the table.
And there’s another layer to it. As collection grows, so does awareness. People are becoming more intentional about preserving trees, understanding that these natural resources are not just part of the landscape, but part of a sustainable livelihood. We’re seeing a shift — from cutting down to caring for what we have.
At its heart, Esther’s Milk and Honey Farm is no longer just producing milk. It’s building a small, circular ecosystem where community, environment, and agriculture support each other.
And that’s where the real impact is.

I’m deeply grateful to have finished in the Top 3 at the Spheres of Opportunity 2026 pitch competition.
When I was pitching, I carried more than just a business idea — I carried the hopes of my country Zimbabwe, and my rural community Nharira in Chikomba District, where agriculture is not just a livelihood, it’s life.
This moment reminds me that innovation can come from anywhere — even a small off-grid farm powered by the belief that rural communities deserve sustainable opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who believed in the journey.
If you believe in the future of climate-smart agriculture and rural enterprise in Africa, I would love to connect.

Why Pregnancy Detection (PD) Matters in Dairy Farming
In dairy farming, reproduction drives profitability. At Esther’s Milk & Honey Farm, routine Pregnancy Detection (PD) is one of our most important management tools — especially as we use Artificial Insemination (AI) and sexed semen to improve genetics.
Here’s why PDs are essential:
🔹 Shorter calving intervals – Early identification of open cows allows quick rebreeding, keeping milk production cycles on track.
🔹 Higher milk efficiency – Well-timed pregnancies support consistent lactation and predictable milk volumes.
🔹 Reduced feed costs – Properly grouping pregnant and non-pregnant cows prevents unnecessary feed wastage.
🔹 Faster genetic progress – PDs confirm successful conception from superior genetics, accelerating herd improvement.
🔹 Better financial planning – Knowing expected calving numbers improves forecasting and growth planning.
Pregnancy Detection is not an expense — it’s a strategic investment.
In dairy farming, what gets measured gets improved.

The gap is real.
Many women entrepreneurs have the drive and vision, but lack critical digital skills to compete in today’s market.
Kudos to Tofara for equipping women with practical digital knowledge that builds confidence, visibility, and growth. This is how we close the gap and empower women to lead.

Artificial insemination enhances genetic progress, reduces costs, improves disease control, and increases overall productivity in dairy farming, making it an essential tool in modern dairy production.
