Projects:
Mandorla has been going through some serious upgrades!
In collaboration with Riverwood Stables LLC, we have added 4 mud free paddocks in front of the West Barn, which now houses our wonderful resident H/J program and clients. This gives these horses year-round daily turn out in a slip free environment, in small groups or singles as needed, complete with free choice hay. These paddocks will be expanded this Summer to double their current size with some grazing area too!
We have added à large mud free group paddock and begun a surfaced track system from the paddock to the large run in shed, around our boarder’s mixed herd turn out pasture. These 6-8 horses enjoy year round daily turn out in a few acres, and have optional mud free surfaced and au naturale areas to hang out. They also enjoy free choice hay.
We have added another separate shed with a surfaced paddock and have plans to build out our other track system further to keep adding more movement, enrichment, and interest for our personal herd.
We still have several hundred feet of board fence to build to tie these areas together and finish them, but we have to wait for the ground to harden back up first.
We built a round corral last year with a path around the outside of it and are working on adding footing, top rails, and siding to it this year. It is also planned to have several trail obstacles around it.
We have been harvesting the dead cedar trees on the property to mill wood for the large hay barn that Matt has under construction up top. It is getting closer to being finished!
We are working with our soil and water conservation district to incorporate a better manure management system.
We are building an outdoor shower and toilet house. Sadly our water table is too high to have flushing toilets here, but we can make the portas as cute and hidden as possible!
We cleared the last of the junk pile that we were left with and have made a much nicer and larger trailer parking area, and are working towards a more sightly shavings containment system.
We had a major power system failure and have restored it, but need to bury 500’ of cable up a steep hillside to finish.
We continue to learn about the water drainage on the property and are working towards a system of ditches and culverts to divert water better.
That’s all the recent major projects for now 😅
