We went to China for breakfast today and I made Jian Bing, asavory Chinese crepe!

I made mine with an egg, green onions, sesame seeds, lettuce, and a spicy sauce (half miso paste and half pickled peppers).

Loved a savory breakfast and this was surprisingly way more filling than I thought it would be. Normally it is served with some kind of crispy cracked inside as well, but I skipped adding that. The crunchy texture would have definitely added some much needed texture.

Huevos Rancheros for breakfast 🍳

I am not a big breakfast person so I am challenging myself to make one big breakfast each weekend we are home, focusing on breakfasts from around the world. Started with one that I love to get at restaurants!

How I made my huevos rancheros:
-2 tostadas
-layered some leftover pinto beans
-chorizo
-fried egg
-Made the sauce with the leftover salsa I had
-cheese
-avocado
-habanero hot sauce
-pickled red onions & habaneros
-cilantro

Had the best dinner this past weekend.

We were able to snag a reservation at the kitchen counter and it was definitely the best spot in the restaurant. Getting to watch the chefs make our dishes was such a highlight & the food was incredible.

We started with the house bread with ranch butter 🤤

Next was the carrot, which ended up being the best bite of the whole weekend! Will be thinking about how I can make this at home.

For the last small plate we got the ricotta gnudi, which made for some perfect bites (just would have loved some more!).

For our large plate we split the Wagyu Denver steak, cooked & seasoned perfectly. I love the maitake mushrooms.

Ended with the key lime pie 😋

As someone who loves food, this was a dining experience I will always remember!

The first sushi restaurant in Grand Rapids to finally satisfy my nigiri craving! 🥢🍣

The fish all tasted so fresh and I was so excited to see Toro on the menu 🤤

For the nigiri we ordered:
Toro, scallop, and salmon belly

For the rolls we ordered:
GTR roll and the angry wives roll

The nigiri was definitely the highlight of the meal for us! I have been searching for the best quality sushi in the area and Kawa is now at the top of our list 😍
