Taylwind Brewing
This innovative duo, Greg Lamoree and Ron Herman, have brewed an addictively delicious beverage that's unlike anything that you've ever tasted. distilling project which drove him to perfect a method of maintaining healthy yeast during the brewing process. In seeking an alternative pairing in lieu of barley/malt, he was taken aback by the incomprehensible varieties of tea/additiv
es that could be employed, so he tried brewing with this ingredient. After nailing the first batch, (to the delight of his friends, as it reached an ABV of 14%), he finally had the source of flavor he had been searching for, tea! Greg shared his ingredients and proprietary process with his friend of over 25 years, Ron Herman, in late 2014. Since then, Ron has been providing samples to family, friends, local watering holes, and beer snobs across the area. This one of a kind tea based brew has received quite a bit of fanfare and numerous inquiries about purchasing, enough that contract brewing isn't too far off in their plans. So go ahead and try a sip of your new favorite tea brew! The Brews:
Teaquila - 8% abv
As this brew's name is attempting to infer, (to one degree, obviously, and to another, slightly obtusely), it is made with tea, (an Earl Grey blend, to be specific), and has been infused with lemon, lime, and organic blue agave to spark notions of that romantically devilish intoxicant. If you have the hint of casual water and a comfortable lounging apparatus nearby, tell the server/pool boy/significant other to "Keep 'em coming"! The Communicator - 8% abv
This variety is made with an Earl Grey tea blend and lemon, (primary fermentation), as well as blackberries, (secondary fermentation) - which prompted the name, (if you're one of those enamored with the smartphone world, the connection should be fairly obvious). Slightly tart/slightly sweet, and most definitely different than virtually anything you've let flow across your lips. Dragon's Tayl - 7% abv
This fire-breather is made with a decaffeinated spiced tea, lemons, and a hot cinnamon spice solution. Brewed to illicit thoughts of one of the hot shot 'trendies' out there, though not as intoxicating. The Elder and The Younger - 8% abv
These iterations were attempts at creating Greg's initial experimental offering, made with an Earl Grey blend and lemon, with the Younger errantly being brewed with a lower percentage of tea due to communcation issues, (we hadn't fired up The Communicator at this point). Your basic tea-flavored alcoholic brews, and ones that we will continue to work to perfect.
