Aged in Hungarian oak barrels for 18 months

Medium bodied and dry with solid tannins. Black cherries, plums, toasted cedar and subtle black pepper.

Introducing our first Reserve wine release, Rogue Blend. Rogue is a 2022 California Red that we crushed during our inaugural year, then aged for 14 months in 100% new Hungarian oak barrels. Dark Cherry, Red Currants, and Blueberry dominate the nose. The palate is rich with flavors of strawberry, cherry, leather, to***co and cinnamon. The oak and tannins are refined enough enough to pair with a hearty steak, yet humble enough to pair with 105 Pizza Co’s traditional Neapolitan style pizza.

Our Blend is unconventional 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Petite Sirah and well deserving of the name Rogue.

So you were probably wondering ... how did the "No F'n Merlot" BLIND wine tasting play out? Yeah, us too! 😉

In the end we had 21 tasters, including a few staff members who didn't actually attend the event. This is how the "challenge" was presented ... "You have in front of you five different wines and I'm going to tell you two truths, the rest is up to you. First, there's at least one Merlot among the five wines. Secondly, there are NOT five Merlots in front of you, that would be a little too devious. Your goal is identify any and all wines in front of you that are Merlot. Begin." 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

In the end, ONLY ONE of our guests was left standing having identified the TWO glasses of Merlot in front of them. A teacher from Littleton, Judy Perkins, earned the bragging rights to claim she was the only one with the sophisticated palate to discern the much maligned Merlot in a BLIND tasting. Well done, Judy!

Truth be told, our own Sara Diaz also identified both Merlots among the five wines as well. Nicely played, Sara! (She did so after knocking it out of the park with the charcuterie preparation for the evening's event!)
