91530 Le Marais brings together for the first time Japanese ceramicist Kazunori Hamana and French textile artist Marie Hazard for Asia NOW Paris Art Fair
The exhibition sets two vernacular traditions
and two geographies in dialogue: Japanese ceramics, in its lineage with the prehistoric tsubo,
and weaving, which Marie Hazard pushes beyond its limits.
Their practices share an attentiveness to slow speeds, repeated gestures, and surfaces that
hold the imprint of time and touch.
Surface becomes skin. That of Hamana’s three jars, set on h**p bricks, bears scratches and
engravings, as though the material had retained something of a prior presence. That of
Hazard’s two weavings is not a closed membrane but a permeable threshold, one the visitor
approches, grazes, crosses. The weave does not envelop; it connects.
Marie Hazard weaves h**p harvested from the lands of 91530 le Marais, blending it with linen
and paper. These are textile landscapes: one does not look at them, one encounters them.
Both artists displace, question, and reinvent their traditions, with the same fidelity to what
matter can still teach. The exhibition speaks, in this way, of transmission and contemplation.

Ce que la Matière Garde brings together, for the first time, Japanese ceramist Kazunori Hamana Kazunori Hamana and French textile artist Marie Hazard Marie Hazard in the Péristyle courtyard of the Monnaie de Paris. The exhibition sets two vernacular traditions and two geographies in dialogue: Japanese ceramics, in its lineage to the prehistoric tsubo, and weaving, which Marie Hazard pushes beyond its limits. Both artists share an ethic of material, neither neutrality nor domination: matter resists, proposes and deviates.
Their practices share an attention to slow speeds, repeated gestures and surfaces that keep the imprint of time and gesture. For both, process precedes object.
Surface becomes skin. That of Hamana’s three jars, set on h**p bricks, bears scratches and engravings, as if the material had kept something of an earlier presence. That of Hazard’s two weavings is not a closed membrane but a permeable threshold, which the visitor approaches, brushes against, crosses. The weft does not enclose, it connects.
Marie Hazard weaves h**p harvested on the land of 91.530 LE MARAIS, blending it with linen and paper. These are textile landscapes. We do not look at them, we meet them. The object ceases to be an end, matter becomes context, and space itself becomes habitable, traversable, sensitive.
Both displace, question and reinvent their traditions, with the same fidelity to what matter can still teach. The exhibition thus speaks of transmission and contemplation.

On 20th of October, 91530 Le Marais opens at 40 rue Croix des Petits Champs, with an inaugural exhibition by Olivier Mosset & Marc Leschelier
With this new exhibition space, the gallery extends its activities into the heart of Paris: production, residency and exhibition now belong to a single entity, which supports artists across Région Île-de-France region.

91530 Le Marais is pleased to invite you to discover the exhibition of Marie Hazard , whose practice brings together artisanal craftsmanship and industrial textile techniques. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, where she studied Textile Design, Hazard has developed a distinctive visual language combining weaving with digital printing, photography, painting and literature.

Developed in situ, the exhibition is rooted in a dialogue with the agricultural landscape of the Essonne region and its resources. H**p grown at 91530 Le Marais becomes the starting point for a reflection on craftsmanship, material memory and ecology. Through an exchange between h**p, linen and rubber, the materials shift in status, weight and texture, reflecting Marie Hazard’s vision of textile as an inherently unstable medium that invents its own language.

Conceived specifically for the volumes of the barn, each piece finds its balance between material, light, image and space, affirming textile as a profoundly contemporary artistic medium.

As part of the exhibition opening, a conversation will bring together Marie Hazard Marie Hazard , Artist; Marie-Sophie Carron de La Carrière , Curator at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; Ida Soulard Ida Soulard , Art Historian; and Victoire de Pourtalès , Founder of 91530 Le Marais, to discuss the intersections of contemporary textile practice, craftsmanship, ecology and artistic creation.

We are delighted to invite you to discover Marie Hazard’s exhibition at 91530 Le Marais.

Marie Hazard ’s practice brings together artisanal craftsmanship and industrial textile techniques. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, where she studied Textile Design, Hazard has developed a distinctive visual language that combines weaving with digital printing, photography, painting and literature.

Conceived specifically for the volumes of the barn, the exhibition brings together a series of monumental works made from h**p cultivated at 91530 Le Marais, alongside linen, coconut fibre, recycled rubber and paper. Suspended, woven and unfolding throughout the space, these installations invite visitors to move through the material itself and experience textile transformed into architecture.

Developed in situ, the exhibition is rooted in a dialogue with the agricultural landscape of the Essonne region and its resources. H**p grown at 91530 Le Marais becomes the starting point for a reflection on craftsmanship, material memory and ecology. A reversal of status takes place between the materials: rubber is elevated through its encounter with h**p and linen, while in return it lends them its weight, texture and resistance. Both aesthetic and conceptual, this exchange reflects Marie Hazard’s vision of textile as an inherently unstable medium, one that refuses docility and invents its own language, work after work.

Each piece finds its own balance between material, light, image and space, affirming textile as a profoundly contemporary artistic medium.

CHARWEI TSAI The Mind is the first dimension invoked in Matters of Regeneration.

Visitors begin at the ground, where ´Ancient Desires’ unfolds as a series of hand-painted ceramic vessels, each inscribed with mantras and filled with ephemeral offerings gathered from the farm: seeds, flowers, stones, water and earth. Resting on circular mirrors that multiply their presence, these quiet gestures become symbolic offerings for the collective well-being of all living beings.

The journey continues upwards with ´Finding Remedy’, a suspended h**p canvas woven from Blanc de Blanc h**p grown at 91530 Le Marais and naturally and locally dyed with cashew husks. Using mineral pigments, plants and homeopathic trees, Charwei Tsai paints a meditation on healing, interconnection and the living world.

From earth to sky, her works invite us into a ceremony of care, where natural materials become vessels for reflection, generosity and regeneration.

For the opening of Matters of Regeneration, cellist and composer Lucy Railton gave a live performance in the grange at 91530 Le Marais, surrounded by the installation Teatro Mobile by Adelaïde Cioni.

A suspended moment, where the music echoed the exhibition’s meditation on the regeneration of living matter.
