Guess who’s back?! I have officially grown and birthed a baby! She is healthy and almost 2 months old at this point and it’s time to get us some sun ☀️ by working in the field!

This season is going to be *much* smaller than last year because of the new baby, me having a full time job, and because we will be moving later this year, giving us a lot of uncertainty and other projects to work on.

There WILL still be flowers and veggies and I’m excited to share our 2022 journey. I’m not planning to do subscriptions, but if you’re absolutely dying for fresh flowers, message me and we can work something out! As crops become available, I will share here so keep an eye on my posts and stories!

Huge dahlia alert 😍

This baby was as big as my head! Such a beautiful creamy sherbet peachy color - now to figure out which variety it is because it sure doesn’t look like any of the others!

First frost is tomorrow night, so it’s time to say goodbye to flowers for this year. This was NOT the summer I was expecting, but there were still so many beautiful flowers out there. Next year might be a little crazy too, but we’ll see what happens!

UPDATE: I know I’ve been mostly silent lately. The flower business (and Instagram) have had to take a backseat to other way more important life things for the last month or two and for a while into the future most likely. I’ll share more details eventually, but know that it’s nothing bad - we’re all happy and healthy! The flowers are still growing and they’re still beautiful! Subscription bouquets are still continuing and I’m taking individual orders as often as I can. Thank you for understanding and supporting!

🌱 260 seeds sowed! 🌱 . For the flower seeds, we’re using a method called “soil blocking” instead of a traditional seed plug tray or individual pots. You basically use this fancy metal handheld smusher to compact soil into little blocks. The seedlings sprout and the roots keep growing until they hit the edge of the soil block. . The main benefits of sowing seeds in soil blocks are 1) no plastic pots or trays to use, disinfect, potentially break, etc. 2) the seedlings don’t get root bound like they can in a pot 3) it’s super easy to “bump them up” into larger soil blocks until they’re ready to head outside and then you just plop them right into the ground! Some people prefer trays though and both are totally acceptable 👍🏻 . We did our herbs and veggies in the 72-cell trays/flats because we wanted a bunch of each variety. We don’t need that many of each flower variety this year. Maybe next year though! .
