Summer → Fall | Driveway & Footing

Another quiet but critical infrastructure upgrade.
We reworked the driveway and improved footing throughout the runs and paddocks; investing over 80 tons of material to improve drainage, durability, and year-round access.

Not flashy work, but the kind that keeps everything functioning the way it should, season after season.

The In-Between (Courtyard) | Summer

This narrow, unused space between the barns was reimagined as a small courtyard; somewhere to pause, sit, and breathe. A place for conversation, rest, and reflection.

We shaped the ground, introduced simple seating areas, and used reclaimed Portsmouth granite alongside natural materials already on the farm. A few transplants were moved in to soften the edges and help the space feel settled rather than installed.

Nothing flashy. Just stone, light, and function ; turning a forgotten pass-through into a space that gets used.

Interior Barn Build-Out | Summer

When we purchased the “farm,” the barns had no stalls, no fans, and no running water.

Over the summer had custom stalls built with handmade doors, keeping everything rustic, durable, and practical. The large barn received stone dust bases with mats installed in each stall, while the smaller barn was fully matted as well. Every stall was outfitted with fans, halter hooks, and the everyday details that make chores smoother. We also installed heavy-duty mats down the center aisle.

Behind the scenes, we replaced the well pump, repaired plumbing, and brought hot water back online. Barn spigots were relocated to the grain room wall and upgraded to frost-free fixtures to make winter manageable.

2025 was a labor of love. One project at a time, turning infrastructure into something that finally works the way it should.

Front Barn Renovation | Summer–Fall

Reclaimed granite from downtown Portsmouth used throughout the site, including the barn ramp.
The ramp stones average 8–12 inches in depth, set to be a permanent fixture of the property and placed to give the impression of long-standing age.

Ornamental lace walls frame the approach, with stone pillars and a sculptural element integrated into the layout. A calming water feature anchors the space, with large boulders positioned for sitting and gathering.
