We lost our sweet Gilly today 😭. He was such a great rooster and was the foundation of all of our stock. We let a couple of his sons take over breeding this spring but we were still hoping to use him for future crosses. Just keep our young chicken tender in your thoughts and prayers because owning livestock of any kind is not for the faint of heart.

Haven’t posted on the farm page in a while but wanted to share here for those that aren’t personal friends of our! We took a ome of our Thames Acres Blue, Black, and Splash Laced Red Wyandottes to the Panhandle Youth Expo in Marianna this past weekend. Our girls did well! In the production female class they took 1st-3rd! We didn’t have any Wyandotte roosters entered because they are still regrowing their tails after their early fall molt but I have no doubt that they would have placed well. Our Thames Acres kids took champion in their age classes for showmanship. We are proud of the kids and birds!

It’s almost show season for us! It’s so hard to make the tough choice of who we compete with each year! Wish our boys looked better this year but they are still molting pretty hard so they won’t make it to the first 2 shows.

Some moms are soccer moms, baseball or football moms. Some are cheer, dance or gymnastics moms. Some are horse show or rodeo moms but I’m pretty sure I have the craziest title. I’m a 4H mom so you never know what we’re going to do. This weekend happens to be chicken show! The things we do to make our kiddos happy!

Wish us luck as we compete against 100+ birds for the title of grand champion in exhibition and top showman for showmanship!
