We’ve got half a hog available that will be going to the processor December 17th. Raised outdoors on pasture, doing what pigs do best. These will be our last available pigs for awhile, as we plan to take next spring off. If you’re interested please send us a message for details.

3 little piggies joined the farm today. 2 Berkshire barrows and 1 Poland China barrow. They were pretty pumped to make the transition to mud and grass, but are trying to figure out the electric fence. The older Poland gilts aren’t quite sure what to think either.

Pasture Raised Pork While our main focus is on raising breeding Idaho Pasture Pigs, we do occasionally have pigs that we raise for slaughter, we process our pigs with our partners at This Old Farm in Colfax, Indiana. Our process for raising pork is time, resource, and labor intensive. As such

About 6 weeks ago one of our pullet’s (young hen) leg was broken in two places while moving the chicken tractor. We debated what to do, but after Sarah cried for 2 hours 😂, we ultimately decided to get creative and use a popsicle stick and surgical tape to splint it. After 3 weeks of being isolated in a cat crate we are so happy to see that she is fully healed and living her best life with her buds. You can see in the last photo that they protect her at all costs.

The broiler chicks were moved out to pasture last week. They’ll spend the next 7 or so weeks in this large mobile coop, called a chicken tractor. The tractor gets moved daily, so they have access to fresh grass and any other tasty morsels they can find. It’s not the easy way to raise them, but it makes for some dang good chicken.
