Island aunties physically cannot answer one question without a 45 minute backstory 😭🤣
Didn’t wanna bother auntie before works and next thing I know we’re 30 minutes deep talking about family stories, growing up islander, who cooked what at parties, old memories, who everyone’s related to 😂
honestly… this is probably why food means so much to me.
In Chamorro culture cooking was never just cooking.
It was family sitting in the kitchen for hours.
Music playing. Uncles laughing too loud. Aunties telling stories that somehow turn into life lessons 😭
Like you don’t just learn recipes… you learn about family values.
And I think that’s why MATUA’Z is so personal to me. Because every recipe carries memories, conversations, love, and a big Chamorro family behind it.
