I added two registered purebred nubians to the herd a few days ago. They're settling in well, and are love bugs as expected. Can't wait to see how they milk!

I now have 4 muscovy hens, one of which has ducklings! She's not friendly, but her babies will make either great breeders or great eaters, depending on their gender!

Carp. Anyone who's ever bottom-fished in a river or lake knows what they are. Sucker are just as bad. Massive, full of bones, NOT the catfish you're after.
And yet, when canned, carp is well worth that fun fight and cleaning! After being canned, it lacks that sharp flavor that salmon has, is just as nutritious, and makes the best fish cakes I've ever had (in my and my kids' opinions)!
Don't toss them back! Can them! "Exhaust for 10 minutes until meat temp is 170, put lids on, and pressure cook for 100-110 minutes on 10 pounds pressure."
And every carp you can is a catfish that can find more meals! LOL

This handsome little stud is doing his job! He's not even big enough to mount the tallest doe, yet, but he's sure giving it his all, and I bet he'll find a way once she stops walking around in circles. LOL

Well, I've made the decision. I simply can't justify all the work it takes to raise meat goats right now on this land. Until I can improve the land properly so they can grow at full speed, I am going to have to devote extra time and resources to my babies.
So...it makes sense to concentrate solely on my registered milk goats. Lots more money for the same amount of work.
Letting go of my herd, that I've been growing for over 7 years, now, is a difficult thing to do, but sometimes, hanging onto the past hurts you more than helps you. Here's hoping I can find a great place for them to call home!

Trying to be patient while these three grow up is so hard! I want babies and tons of delicious goat's milk so I can make cheeeeese! And yogurt, and more cheese, and drinking plain, and...well, you get the idea.
I've decided to get out of meat goats for now, as I just don't have the energy to put into such little return. I can make 5-10 times as much with registered goats for the same effort.
I love the goats I started with, but hopefully, I'll find them a home with larger pastures and lots of brush.

This boy is half kiko, half boer, and is the biggest boy of this year's crop! I've decided offer him to improve someone's herd. His father threw a TON of color, moonspots, dapple, etc. His brother is being retained. His only quirk, the tips of his ears are folded up.

I turn around and find Blueberry just standing there, gazing at me patiently. I actually checked her health because that is not very goat-like, to be patient! LOL She's such a sweetie!

Wowzers!!! A massive lion's mane mushroom grew on our tree! It tastes nutty and super addictive! So tasty! And supposed to be super healthy!

I love my bun buns! I'll love the babies even more on my plate when they're grown! LOL
Who knows. Maybe I'll get to sell a few live ones as pets/breeders. I hope so. :-)
