How would you like to create quick, tasty & easy food that gets you to the table quick so your time is spent on the important things. Let’s get you back to basics using modern conveniences so you can save time and money, while still enjoying food and family. Yes I like to use real food, but I'm still a sucker for some comme

rcial treats. I may try to limit the extras, but I'm pretty realistic about how I approach things. Come join us if you'd like to reduce the chemicals and ditch the box while learning how to cook. If you want to enjoy some tasty recipes, maybe dable in the dirt a little to grow your own or just plain hang out with people trying to figure it all out come check out our community over at Gardening Foodies (linked group). I started this journey slow and steady years ago, but since stepping up my gardening and finding bon COOK I've actually had the same food budget since August of 2010 while adding 2 extra mouths. We've made slow and steady changes to accomplish that but I'm pretty proud of it. Now over 7 years later we're finally at the point where I think we need to make some financial adjustments, but given how much food has increased the last 7 years plus our growing family, I'm still proud of what I've accomplished. Now I want to help you meet your goals in the kitchen so that you can see the success you've dreamed about no matter how big or small that goal is.

It’s been a hot second but this sale is hitting at a perfect time. There’s even a few that I need to snag a few more of. It’s always exciting to get new items but always sad to see some favorites leave 😭 Which one is in your list?

Germs hitting our house is a reminder that sometimes you need some fast food. Nice thing is fast food can still be real food. First time experiment of canning stew and it was great. I got yelled at because I only opened 2 quarts. Mostly cause stew wasn’t that popular last time we had it. 🤣 guess that's changing. Gotta make another batch so we have more for next time.

The one bad thing when you do small batches 🤪 everyone is upset when there’s not more 🤣

Sunflower mold was at it again but this time quiche. Can’t remember the last time I made quiche. I’m beginning to think I may have a problem soon if these kids keep eating the way they do 😂 One quiche may not be enough for us. At least it makes clean up easy.

Tried a new experiment. Loaded biscuits for a quick grab and go breakfast. Total hit. Biscuits mixed with scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage and cheese. Now to play with other combos. 🤔 wonder what else could be good here.

The little things.

Cooking more I definitely need to build the habit of grabbing the apron. I can’t tell you the number of random spots or stains I’m cleaning constantly off my clothes. All my kids have aprons lovingly made by nana or themselves. They’re better at remembering than I am.

I don't think kids nowadays know what an apron is. The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few. It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material. But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.. And when the weather was cold, Grandma wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes. Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about Grandma's aprons. REMEMBER: Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw. They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron. I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love ❤

Oldie but goodie. Haven’t made enchiladas in forever or cornbread for that matter. But take note: melt your honey if it’s crystallized 😂 thought I could get away with it but it sunk and caramelized. Still tasted good.

PS the bon cook 9x13 was in use and we thought we’d have leftovers.

Sometimes simple just hits the spot. Had some leftovers that needed to get used up so we made it a little different to be easier for the littles. And oh darn we’re heavy on the veggies overall.
