Last nights visit was to Stoked, a southern American style vegan BBQ restaurant situated in Westcliff-on-Sea!!

I will start off by saying this is truly vegan food to be proud of!!

Firstly the food, absolutely delicious!!! I had the chance to try the Chick'n slider, Orange bird and Smoked mac.

£12 The Chick'n slider: Packed with chunks of charred BBQ soya chick'n with slaw, pickled onions, jalapenos and garlic mayo, all in a toasted bun served with chips with the option to upgrade to smoked for £2. It is quoted on the menu they have sold over 10,000 of these and you can certainly see why.

£12 The Orange bird: Crispy seitan fillet, sticky orange reduction, Asian slaw, Kimchi mayo, pickled radish in a toasted brioche bun again served with chips with the option to upgrade to smoked chips! This burger was different to any burger I've had before with the orange reduction but I was impressed how all the flavours of the burger worked together!

£6 Smoked Mac: This for me was the star of the show!!!! Honestly this was incredible. A real smokey creamy BBQ taste! I haven't got a clue what they used in it but wow.

Speaking to the very polite and friendly staff it became evident why the food tasted so fresh as she explained a lot of the food was made from scratch by themselves.

The venue itself was vibrant with music playing and people enjoying their time there. It was a great experience and a lot of effort has clearly gone into the decor and branding! There is limited seating so if you were planning on a visit it probably best to book a table.

I WOULD 100% RECOMMEND STOKED!!Can't wait to return already!

PLEASE remember to try and support our local vegan business!!

So last night I visited wagamamas Colchester to see how their vegan menu was and was really really impressed! They have their own vegan menu they give you with lots of options to choose from! Unfortunately I didnt get a picture of the menu as I was too busy scoffing! If you have not been before each dish comes out as it's ready at different times so I had my main before my "starters" but there wasnt much time difference and it meant all the food was fresh! I really liked the presentation of the dishes especially the ramen it looked incredible. My favourite of the lot was the sticky ribs which were busting with flavour they were amazing!! In general the food was very good at a fair price and I definitely recommend trying it out! I will list the names of the dishes with the pictures!! 😁

They have a page on their website called "the vegan edit" which is encouraging people to eat less meat and dairy which is great to see. I'll add the link below!

At the weekend I decided to give Poshdogs & Naughty Bites vegan menu a go with a takeaway and I was impressed! I ordered the La bama hotdog, Newyork OG's hotdog, loaded tater tots and the cauliflower wings! All of the food was absolutely delicious both hotdogs were packed full of ingredients and had great flavours. The loaded tater tots were covered in melted cheese and the cauliflower wings were smothered in a spicy buffalo sauce but still had a perfect crunch to them, both side were brilliant. These guys are based in Colchester and will deliver to surrounding areas though the app colchesterEats. I definitely recommend ordering from there as the food was very nice, portions large and great value for money!!
Please note the prices on added menu in pictures have changed.

Yesterday I visited ispwich vegan market and I'm very pleased I did! Firstly, I would like to say I think it is great that this event was happening, not only does it give local vegan businesses a chance to make some money but also just maybe it might encourage some of the meat eating passers by to see how good vegan food can be. There where quite a few business there offering all sorts of different goodies! I will start off with the first food I bought which was from the Norwegian Bakers. These guys are outstanding. Their pastries are honestly another level! They have a bakery in Wivenhoe Colchester which I will be doing a separate review for so I'll leave it at that but you can see some of what they have to offer in the pictures!

Secondly, I tried two different burgers from TFI Vegan, they were the Stack (£5) and Texas stack (£5) . Both were delicious. The stack had special sauce which was awesome and the Texas had tortilla chips which gave it a crunchy texture that I quite liked! Both were moist and flavoursome. Really enjoyed these and cannot wait to try the others on the menu in the future.

Up next I just couldnt resist trying some food from Samu Kitchen, I had the V.F.C wrap (Vegan Kentucky Fried) (£6) and the cauli buffalo wings (£5) and WHOW. THIS FOOD WAS BANGING!!!! Firstly the V.F.C was a massive portion real value for money!! It tasted soooo good, the fried Seitan strips were crispy and full of flavour with the fresh crisp salad it was a dream. The cauli buffalo wings were also a delight cooked to perfection. The hot sauce with it was deadly but brilliant especially mixed with the garlic sauce.

You could probably guess I was absolutely stuffed and could hardly move after my visit. Really hope they hold another vegan market as there are so many other foods I would like to try. DEFINITELY advise visiting. Please remember in these difficult times it is vital we support our local vegan business where we can.

So with there being a lockdown for the next few weeks I decided to review a local pizza takeaway Dough&co woodfired pizza (Halstead) they have other restaurants in Colchester, Sudbury and Bishops stortford. You can order online line or call your local restaurant. There is one Vegan pizza option which you can add toppings for £1.50 each. There is also a vegan pasta option, salad option and I was told on the phone when I called that they can make some of the sides vegan on request which includes garlic bread, bruscetta and dough triangles which is decent. There is a vegan chocolate cake too for £6 which I didnt try.

I ordered one of the deals on the menu called "couples night in" for £26 which included 2 12inch pizzas, 1 side, 2 soft drinks and two dips. I went for "The vegan one" pizza, garlic bread side, 2 Chilli oil dips. In my opinion this is a pretty good deal. I placed my order at 6pm and unfortunately did not receive it till 7:45pm. I did call at 7:30pm and they informed me pizza was out for delivery. When I eventually got tucked into the food the pizza and garlic bread was very good although barely warm.

To summarise having to wait 1hr 45mins to be given luke warm food at best was disappointing. The food its self was very tasty and was a class above dominos ect. I understand that it would have been busy and the delivery driver did say he got lost but this has made me cautious about ordering from there again. I would recommend giving it a look because the quality of food and price was decent I just hope I got unlucky with waiting time.

THE VEGAN ONE PIZZA 12 INCH - £13
Tomato base sauce, spring onions, wild mushrooms, sun-blushed tomatoes, baby spinach, vegan mozzarella

GARLIC BREAD -£6
With fresh garlic & vegan mozzarella

MIXED CHILLI INFUSED OLIVE OIL- £1

Saturday just gone I visited The Vegan way cafe located in Braintree town for lunch. The cafe is situated in the back of The natural way shop where there is a small dining area with around 3 tables in. As the name suggests its completely vegan cafe with a small menu consisting of burgers, an all day breakfast menu and also bowls of the day (soups & currys). I went for the vegan B.L.T (£6.95) and my girlfriend went for the BBQ pulled jackfruit pitta (£5.50). My sandwich was nice but the bbq pitta my girlfriend had was very good (I had serious food jealousy). We also had a slice of carrot cake (£3.50 per slice) and two different flavour donuts (£3 per donut) there are many flavours to choose from and again these were also tasty.

All in all it was a pleasant experience at The vegan way cafe, food was nice and staff were very friendly. As stated before the cafe is situated in the back of the shop which also sells loads of vegan products (frozen, refrigerated goods and more) which is really cool! PLEASE REMEMBER IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES IT IS VITAL WE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES.

Vegan B.L.T - £6.95
Tempeh "bacon" sage & marjoram
"Sauages" fresh organic tomatoes, lettuce and avocado topped off with tomato sauce.

BBQ pulled jackfruit pitta - £5.50
Pulled jackfruit and caramelized red onions marinated in our house bbq sauce, served I a warm pitta with salad and our homemade vegan slaw.

Hi guys and girls! I have created a page where I will be sharing my experiences eating out Vegan across East Anglia! I have Been vegan for just under a year I have found it difficult to find places to eat out, so I have decided to create this page to help people find more places and to have some idea of what they are likely to find! I'm no food expert just an average guy with a love for food! Hope this will help people starting out vegan as it can be difficult to begin with but also people that have been vegan for a long time! If you have any recommendations of places you think I should go or you would like to share your experiences on posts of places I've been please do.

Today I had lunch at Sudburys Prado lounge located on the high street. They have a large vegan menu from tapas to sandwiches and main courses so I was excited to eat here. I had the beyond cheese burger and my girlfriend had the roasted sweet potato burrito. My burger was VERY tasty loads of flavour and a decent size portion! I also tried the burrito which was massive, loads of filling and tasted awesome and again decent value for money! We also had dessert, I had the dark chocolate and orange torte and my girlfriend had the carrot cake! Both costing £3.50 a portion and they were well worth it!!!!

They offer both soya and oat milk for hot drinks also!!!

I would definitely recommend eating at Prados lounge, large selection of Vegan options and decent prices! Portion size was good and everything tasted very delicious! The restaurant its self was clean and spacious there is also a small terrace area where you can sit outside. Staff friendly and the restaurant is also dog friendly.
