I was late to the Ted Lasso party. I binge-watched it and am officially obsessed. Here’s what I took away from it to help in my business:
1. Culture beats strategy
You can have the best product in the world, but if your team isn’t aligned, nothing matters.
2. Be curious, not judgmental
Ask why before reacting. Don’t always assume the worst. Sometimes these situations give us a chance to pivot and test how we react under pressure.
3. Play the long game
Brands with strong reputations stand out - especially in a world where businesses now seem to appear and vanish within months.
4. Everyone wants to be seen
From staff, to customers to suppliers. Everyone has a role in your business and without them, you wouldn’t be as strong or effective.
5. Authenticity is a competitive advantage.
Being genuine creates trust. Sharing what you do and telling your story helps people feel connected. This is so powerful in a world where people often feel disconnected.
6. Hold high standards with kindness
If people are on the journey with you, they want the best too. While the path isn’t always smooth, the way in which you hold yourself and others accountable, matters.
7. Small moments matter
The little things are the big things!
8. Failure is data, not identity
This is a big one. Losses, setbacks, and mistakes aren’t the end. The question is always, “What did we learn?” Great businesses adapt rather than dwell and it can actually be rather exciting. A lot of growth happens here!
9. Believe before you see results.
The “BELIEVE” or “BRIE-LIEVE” sign (in our case!) isn’t magic. It’s about creating confidence when the evidence isn’t there yet. This is easy if you’re doing something you are truly passionate about.
10. Success isn’t only measured by revenue
It’s also important how people think and talk about us in the market. Our cheese isn’t just cheese…it’s a vibe.
