Honestly guys if you don’t have live plants give them a go!! All of my axolotls love them and I’m a convert! I am not green fingered but Java fern and Anubia’s are brilliant! A decent flow (no the axolotls won’t hate it) and dim light 6-7hrs a day (again no the axolotls won’t hate it, yes they don’t have eyelids but if they have plenty of hiding spots you’ll notice they don’t hide when lights are on? If it was uncomfortable they will!!!). Only thing I recommend with lights is use led etc that don’t give off heat like the old bulbs as you don’t want the water being heated up!
