Southard Farm Long Wools Southard Farm Long Wools is a small fiber farm nestled in the hills of the Missouri Ozarks. Farm life evolves around a flock of long wool sheep and their fiber.

The shepherdess hand processes each fleece. We only sell our products locally.

My mill order arrived yesterday!
This year I sent all the white fleeces I had remaining from last year. Same with remaining colored fleece, off to the mill in July.
Mixing the fleeces creates what I call our farm blend. Like I do when I create batts for Fiber U. There is mainly Lincoln with a bit of BFL, Romney and Rambo in the white. Lincoln, BFL and CVM in the colors.
AND I did another thing. At Fiber U, I purchased a large amount of Blacknose Valais fleece. For a special project . I also sent that to the mill to be processed. It looks amazing too! More about the special project soon 😁

Happy to see the new girls are beginning to lay.

How I store wool is rather simple. Anything in plastic bag or tote = washed Net/mesh bag = raw. Raw needs to breathe
