DIY Dreamy Pastel Galaxy Lanterns in a Jar
Supplies Needed:
Mason jars (any size)
Cotton balls
Water
Acrylic paint (pastel pink, lavender, baby blue, mint green, pastel yellow)
Glitter (fine and chunky)
Wooden skewers or long sticks (for pushing down cotton)
Optional: glow-in-the-dark paint or LED tea lights
Disposable cups or bowls
Plastic spoons
Lids (optional, for sealing jars)
Instructions:
Fill several disposable cups with a bit of water—about 1/4 cup in each.
Add a few drops of a different pastel acrylic paint color to each cup and stir until fully mixed.
Stretch out cotton balls until fluffy and loose.
Place a layer of cotton into the bottom of your mason jar, pressing it down lightly with a skewer or stick.
Pour one color of the paint-water mixture onto the cotton until it’s soaked through. Sprinkle some glitter over this layer.
Repeat steps 4–5, alternating pastel colors and glitter, until the jar is full.
Optional: Add a small amount of glow-in-the-dark paint to some layers or insert a battery-operated LED tea light for a magical nighttime effect.
Seal the jar with a lid or leave it open for display.

1 package (10-14 oz) angel food cake, store-bought or homemade, torn into bite-sized pieces
1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
1 ½ cups milk
1 cup sour cream
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
Optional Toppings:
1 (8 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
Fresh fruit (such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple tidbits, etc.)
Chocolate shavings
Caramel sauce
