Double ageing is the signature of Planteray Rum, a philosophy shaped by time, terroir, and the journey between Barbados and France. Found across our portfolio, this approach brings depth, balance, and character to every bottle, but one expression in particular stands apart.

With Planteray XO 20th Anniversary, created to celebrate Alexandre Gabriel’s 20th anniversary as Master Blender, this philosophy takes on even greater depth. Tropical ageing in Barbados builds richness and intensity, while a second maturation in French oak casks brings balance, refinement, and complexity.

When George Stade founded the West Indies Rum Distillery in 1893, he chose Brighton Beach for a reason.

Fresh water from Spring Gardens, the sea just steps away, everything needed to make and move rum was right there. Casks could be filled and sent straight out to ships waiting offshore.

But it wasn’t just practical. Stade was an inventor, building some of the first modern column stills on the island, and he needed a place that could support both tradition and progress. The beach gave him that balance.

More than a century later, not much has changed.
The same sea air, the same setting, still shaping Barbadian rum, every day.

Jason, who oversees the agricultural projects there, works alongside the team to care for the fields and keep things moving, season by season.

This approach goes into making Planteray Cut & Dry, working with the land & the people, with patience, and with care.
